bmw paint stick affected by cold weather ?

I had a paint stick shipped to me and it stayed in my mail box for about a whole day in below freezing temperature (16f). Someone told me this was bad and the paint could be damaged, is this true ? The color is steel blue metallic and after shaking it vigorously it seems a bit darker than the actual paint on the car . Help a newbie out.
