There is no debating the fact that this tactic is used. The reaction is what stuns me.

so lets talk Drone warfare:

In all wars, there is collateral damage. However, that doesn't make it right. That said, the Drone is actually a great tool in reducing collateral damage b/c of its precision.

Figures in 2012 show that there has been approx 2% in civilian deaths. The total, since 2004, has been between 14-17%. That is quite low when compared to WWII and Vietnam when carpet bombing was used.

http://counterterrorism.newamerica.net/drones

Additionally, Drone use is quite efficient. Not only does it reduce collateral damage, it allows access to remote areas that are inaccessible and/or would cost significant amounts in resources and human life to go after targets.

Also, there are inconsistencies in reported civilian deaths. Where the "civilians" where not civilians at all, but Taliban. But I guess a man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
I never claimed to be against the use of drones. All I did was post a link to an article discussing a pretty scary tactic employed by our government. I also never claimed to be an expert on drones.

I am not trying to troll this thread. I read the story and I found it scarily similar to this double tap tactic. The only difference I found is that people are either completely unaware of or do not care about the drone tactic, but when it happens here, people mourn and become overly sensitive. What are we supposed to do any way? Make a thread and say we're sad? What the hell will that do?

Edit: he was also convicted of killing his grandmother in 1981... why the fvck was he out of jail?!?! US legal system

Also to pour some gas on the fire...since he was a convicted felon he couldn't legally purchase a firearm, would an "assult weapons" ban saved the firemen's lives? No, criminals will always find ways to get their hands on firearms, regardless of what the laws are.

The news outlets sensationalizing all these attacks are just breeding copycats, CNN has more blood on it's hands than the NRA ever did

What the hell is it going to do by posting something on Drones, then call us naive and ignorant when we don't agree or want to keep the thread on topic - in regard to firefighters?

Not the time? Too soon? People die every single day. Someday it will be a member of your family, someday it will be a member of mine. Why are we being so sensitive about this? I don't understand. You need to conceptualize your place in the universe and understand that you are literally inconsequential, just like everyone and everything around you. Oh, but me drawing a comparison to the practices of my own government is just too much, too soon, right?

I was never intending to be confrontational. I posted a link to an article that outlined scarily similar happenings and people jumped all over me. I never even stated my opinion on the topic but people came at me. Yet, you call me crazy.

Agree with what? All I did was post a link. I never told you how I felt about it or tried to persuade you one way or another. I think more people should be made aware of the inequities of the world which is exactly what I shared that link. Instead, people call me rude and insensitive because it's "too soon."

R there any connections between the shooter and his victims?

This seems too random.

Excuse me? I haven't posted one factually incorrect statement. The article I linked also appears to be factually correct. When you say BS, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Perhaps you could clarify, with specific examples, before you post such a blanket statement, but I imagine this is well beyond your intellectual capacity.

So sad for the firefighters and their families RIP. May the shooter burn in hell.

Tock172, its funny what a bunch of hypocrites are in this thread are. Comments like "not the place", "exit this thread with your BS" all show what a bunch of blind ignorant fools these guys are. The way most Americans think is that if it doesn't happen to a fellow American they don't give a rats ass. How many innocent children have died in drone strikes in foreign countries? What about all the first responders that die in drone strikes? No one cares. But if innocent american children/first responders are killed everyone is in a uproar.

Wake up people. People die everyday, just because an American died does not make it any more tragic than a first responder dying in another country or a school being demolished in another country.
