All the bushings are finally out and I'm ready to install new ones, but I forgot to mark the position of the bushings

This has been such a pain haha

Anyone have any diagrams or anything? Thanks in advance.

Thanks dude!

Tried installing the bushings a little while ago, my tool only seemed to be putting pressure on the center of the bushing so I'm just taking it to a shop to have the bushings installed tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll be putting everything back together tomorrow afternoon!

Things are starting to come back together, all I have left to do is lift the subframe and attach it to the frame, put on the rear struts and springs, reattach the driveshaft, bleed the brakes, and then I'm good to go.

I'll post some pics in the AM. Sorry it's going kinda slowly, but progress is being made.

Everything is back together finally! All I have left to do is bleed my brakes and I can drive again.

Sorry for the lack of pics, I promise I'll post some tomorrow

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures.

Everything has been back together as of last Thursday, except the exhaust, which we put on yesterday. I had to run open headers for a few days, it was a very painful experience hahahaha

It's soooooooo nice not having a clunk every time I touch the throttle or shift, the car feels a hundred times better

Anyway, everything is back together now and I believe I have a vacuum leak, so I'll tackle that this weekend if possible.

I finally have pictures for you all!

My rear diff bushing was the worst of all the bushings

Mods are coming soon, I promise

Andrew, this is not correct. I had this done at a BMW dealership and yes, I paid $$$ to have this done but it was well worth it to me to have the ///M spoke steering wheel over the older 4-spoke wheel. The airbag was connected but since the round airbag is a two-stage airbag only one of the stages was connected and I didn't have any issues while I had my car. It was many years ago and I don't remember exactly how it was done but this can be done if you're willing to pay some cash to do it. You still retain all the original airbags, airbag module, and such. You just add the round airbag to the mix and it operates on a single stage.

Here's the pic of my retrofitted ///M spoke steering wheel I retrofitted to my '99 323i

iirc, somewhere around $800 but like I said, I had to have this in my car. Even the triangle steering wheel you have is much better than the 4-spoke steering wheel my 323i came with

Of course, I now own my ///M and ZHP so no need to mod since they both come with the ///M spoke wheel

Nice job on the bushing install. I get the itch every time I see pictures of dropped subframes to work on mine.

Hopefully coilovers will be the next major mod, but it won't be for a little while. Until then, I'm probably going to do some interior refreshing. My trim is cracked, the pillar covers are in poor shape, and I may dye my headliner black, still deciding whether or not I want to risk it.

You can put an M3 wheel and round airbag in your car, I have no idea how you heard that you couldn't. My car was a build date of 11/98 and it was 100% plug and play with no airbag light.

Awesome, thanks!
Another thing to add to my list

Also, my wood trim is cracked and I'm thinking about vinyl wrapping it. I'm guessing the cracks will show a bit through the wrap. Should I just sand down the trim to make it smooth? Has anyone else sanded theirs down, then wrapped it?

Sorry to thread jack, but uh isn't the round airbag a dual stage system, if you try install it the airbag won't deploy in an accident? If it is plug and play I want to do this!

The single stage plug will be plug and play into the dual stage... From what I've been told, in an accident, it will deploy both airbags.

The only functionality that won't be utilized is the low stage airbag in a light collision.

So it SHOULD work the same as the airbag system the car came equipped with from the factory.

Oh I see, this is a hard decision...
