I did all this in one day without ever connecting my phone to a PC. I downloaded and flashed all the ROMs/kernels directly from my phone.
That's huge in my book. I wasn't aware that was an option.

I click the download link on my phone, it downloads it to the phone memory. I use file explorer to move to desired location. On my particular model, I flash the ROM (the boot image, actually) before I restart in recovery to flash it again. Done. New OS.

Say again? You can flash things outside of recovery?

So HTC won't let you flash a kernel in recovery, only the ROM? Something to do with the unlock code they give you?

Have you tried using the Rom Manager? It's made by the same CyanogenMod guys.

I can flash kernels from recovery, too. I can flash anything from recovery, but I have to flash the boot.img from Android first.

I'm not sure if that would work with my HTC phone.

I used to use it a long time ago, then I just started doing things manually in recovery. Now I just stick to Cyanogenmod and use their built updater, the lazy way lol.
