engine conversion 316ti
i know its probably been posted 100 times before. i just picked up a 316ti 2004 cheap. its accident damaged and isnt worth anything if i sell it. want more power and was wondering what engine i could put in it. can get motors from a local scrappy (good freind) very cheap. any ideas what would be relitively easy. anyone done any conversions on here? thanks

Minimum, you'll wanna go M54B30.
If you want a wee bit more, you can go M54B30 ZHP engine. If you really want a screamer, you can go the S54 engine route. I do not know how the touring model engine compartment differs, but I can imagine since it's based on the E46 platform it should be able to fit those engines. Shoot, people have shoved the M5 V10 engine in these suckers. The thing is, it will not be easy. It'll be quite the project for any of those.

+1 for just the 3 liter M54. The ZHP engine will probably cost too much for the minimal gain. The S54 is going to require some rear subframe mods so you don't tear the frame out.
