at wits end on P0171 & p0174
hey there guys i need help on my current problem. i'll make this as simple to read as possible just because i hate reading large paragraphs as well.
* pulled codes P0171 and P0174 - replaced: intake rubber boot - vent pipe - return pipe - tube elbow - cleaned MAF - replaced air filter - replaced gas cap (no rough idle, but alittle loss of power) = results is SES still on, MPG meter (below tachometer) goes up to 20 or more right before stopping. gas is killing me *** i''m going to clean the throttle house assembly today, just as soon as it stops raining. I need help guys!

thanks for the input shake&bake.
This is what just happened; finished cleaning my ICV, tested DISA or Adjuster unit (still works). SES still persist. MPG meter still goes up, but just below 20 MPG right before coming to a complete stop. (slight improvement) kill me now please!

To follow up on Brobby, did you change the upper AND the lower intake hoses? Are you sure that the lower hose was properly aligned?

After having same issue and performing the same service as you have, it came down to changing the CCV and the adjoining hoses. It was not an easy job but there is a 4 part youtube series on how to do the job that is priceless. Parts can be bought in a kit with all the needed parts and gaskets just for this common issue for $150-$200 if memory serves me right.

Thanks for all the input. But I've done all that when I first brought it to a shop. It's is what they replaced;
Oil separator(CCV) part # 11617501566 Breather hose(return pipe) part # 11617504536 Breather hose(vent pipe) part # 11611432559 Oil breather(vent hose) part # 11157532649 new codes came up; P0102 and P0113 this is ontop of the P0171 and P0171. I tried to locate the intake air temparature (IAT) but couldn't find it. some people say its the same unit as the MAF. I bought a cheap MAF from ebay about $100.00 but made it worst so i took it out and put my old MAF in. any recommendations? i'll listen to anything short of setting this damn thing on fire. cheers HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Ugh you are scaring me I have the same issue right now. I had taKen my car in to have them check and they said they found cracked caps on the spare vacuum ports below the cab filter had dried and cracked. Something else to possibly look at.

I will need to pay attention to this thread as I feel like I will be going though the same steps.

Check fuel pressure, especially if the SES light comes on while driving. Weak fuel pump or dirty filter can cause lean codes.

No oil leaks and I just finished changing the fuel filter. I think it's the MAF since another code came up. P0102 and P0113
