I was pretty shocked it remained at it's $5,000,000 ($10mm for married people) level. I was nearly certain it would go back down to $3,500,000.

I was shocked as well. I was also glad to see the portability provisions remain intact.

Agreed.....I think I was more surprised to see portability remain over the actual exemption amount. Last year it was 5.12mm, is that what it is this year, or did they retreat back to the 5mm level that we started with? I know the extra .12mm was an inflation adjustment....

I don't know. The number I heard tossed around was $5M. IIRC, that number will be inflation-adjusted moving forward.

This post explains a lot about you..You simply think the household that makes more money than you should pay more money. Do you know the finances of these households or debts?

Tell you what, next time you go to dinner with friends, cover a percentage of the bill for your friends who make less money than you.

Can someone please point out to me the thread where all of the conservatives were thanking/praising Obama for the 2% temporary reduction in their taxes? As far as I'm concerned, if you didn't thank them for the reduction you can't bitch at them for getting rid of it.

The people who buy expensive homes and have 4 or 5 children should gain the benefit of mortgage interest and dependent children deductions, but shouldn't have to pay more taxes (even though they make 5 times as much money as you make).

Sounds like republican logic.

"Obama has never done anything right, and he never will." ~ republicans and other fake conservatives

Democrat logic is making someone who EARNS more money to pay more money, that logic is a blanket assumption of others finances and rooted in selfishness. Like I mentioned earlier, I encourage anyone who believes in that logic to encompass it into their daily lives and help your fellow neighbors out.

The people who get screwed on taxes are upper middle class salary W2 employees. Households who see above the new 400K mark, the far majority do not get a W2 and squander their money behind dedications, expenses and write offs..This is made possible because of their revenues come in first and then the burden of proof in taxes is on them.

No matter your party affiliation, one has to agree the single best way to tax the American people is by removing the majority of deductions and forcing a flat tax where money cannot hide.

The people who get screwed are the people who don't burden the country with four or five children. We don't get the huge tax cuts for knowing how to f*ck, and we don't take advantage of government services and programs for children that we decided to have.

"Selfish".

But yet you and a lot of democrats/liberals want social programs in place for people like this? Such a double standard.

I'd prefer to spend our tax dollars on bombs, bullets, and federal subsidies for the oil companies who have broken every record for corporate profits - not just in our history, but in the history of the world.

F*ck those stupid hungry people, public servants, and those old folks who want their medicare/social security.
