^ I did the same thing as your buddy (tested G19, M&P9, XDm9, and XD9) and ended up with an XD9. Goes to show that it's different for everyone.

XD9sc or the M&P shield. I honestly hate the way glocks shoot... It's all personal pref. Go shoot all of them for $20 somewhere.

Love my G19. Goes bang everytime and I'm surgical with it...don't know how you are built, but it is fairly large in terms of CCW. Sitting down is a bit annoying, but obviously, depends on how you carry. Do you have a budget?

You guys keep saying G19, but he's looking for a concealed... The compact lines are just too big for me to conceal, but I guess its person to person.

I want to go with the G19 because the subcompacts are too small for my hands and i dont like only having the two finger hold on it. My dad has several of these guns being brought up but I have never shot a glock and from what I have heard you really cant go wrong with it. I want to carry it with me when Im hunting for something that may come up on me such as snakes. ii used to carry my SW 44mag but that is more of a cannon then handgun

^ya you can't go wrong with a glock reliability wise. The pinky extension on the scs make a world of difference but I have big hands and you get used to shooting with the regular mag.

Lol I recently ordered a s&w m&p but something happened where it wouldn't be in stock for awhile so I got the sd9 for like $300 as just a range gun. It's the revamped version of the sigma (glock copy that jammed every other shot) so I wasn't expecting too much out of it. About 1000 rounds later and multiple kinds of ammo and not a single issue. It's accurate too. Good gun for the price IMO.

I might be picking up a glock for carry though, just need to get used to the grip on them as I'm one of those people who isn't a fan of it, but I do like how they shoot.

Get a Glock if you want something to go bang every time and have no issues with reliability. If you want a gun with amazing ergonomics and that is reliable then get an HK p30. I own Glocks and HK's. I would trust my life to either. I don't enjoy shooting Glocks as much because of the ergonomics, but you can't beat the reliability and cost.

Sig Sauer for me...didn't like the grip on the glock...however it's still a great pistol. As others have recommended, also check out the XDM, M&P and HK p30. Since you have larger hands a Sig p226 might be the best.

Personally, I have the Springfield XD9. Find one that has the features you want, feels good in your hand and go with that.

My dad has an HK...dont know the exact model but it is a .40. I like the feel of it but i cant spend $900 on a handgun. im in the 5-700 range and for the price i cant really beat the glock

Yes, in your price range you are probably going to end up with Glock, Springfield XD (I like XDMs much better), and S&W M&P. All good choices, just pick what you shoot best.
