I know you said "permit to purchase" but whats the point if you cant carry? Home defense, buy a shotgun.
He is not asking for a permit to carry. He would never get one. In NJ, you need an FID card, which is a permit to PURCHASE...two different things.

If it is not done from start to finish in 30 days, hit me up, I'll help you take it from there. My wife and the NJ second amendment society are the ones who are currently suing the state police for their OPRA violations. The process cannot take more than 30 days.

Tell your references to send the letters back with certified mail.

Every town is different in terms of not only time frame but difficulty in obtaining a FID card. What town are you in? Check this out for other people's experiences:

No it does not. NJ has one law. Every town indeed has their own "terms" (which is what my wife's lawsuit is about) which is blatantly against the law. There is no opinion. There have been reports of township police asking for employee references (against the law), setting their own parameters on who can be a reference (against the law), taking their time hoping you will give up (against the law) etc.

*Edit*

Apologies, I misread your post. I thought you were claiming that every township has their own rules. My bad. Carry on.

Hmmm... alright. One of the contacts I was going to list is a bit flaky when it comes to responding to things. The rest of my acquaintances that I can think of are no more reliable. Anyone wanna be my reference on the form?

Surely you have members of your family with different last names, a girlfriend, a friend that can mail out a letter no?

If they allow out of state references, I'll fill it out. I'll tell them you're my favorite internet liberal.

Well, yea. I'm sure my brother in law will be happy to sign. It does ask for non relatives though.

You guys have families fighting at bus stops.

But we digress.... I like NJ and I'm a native Texan. Rock on!

Any shotguns you guys recommend?

For HD, can't go wrong with a Remington 870. Some will say the Mossy500, but the build quality just isn't there IMHO.

I got fingerprinted in late Feb... and still waiting to get any kind of notification regarding my license to purchase.

How long should this take? Should I call the detective to see what's going on? I believe I've been patient enough.
