I live far below my means as well (30% saved/invested on average each year) but I'm not crazy enough to not increase my quality of living as my professional career enjoys additional success. I'm sure as heck not going to stay in the same crappy "motels" now that I did when I was an E-3 in the Navy taking a vacation. Being professionally successful means you can be financially responsible and still enjoy increases in quality of life...

Congrats on the raise, just save it. Build up a significant sum and invest it.

Now what? Now you give more of it to the government 401k that **** and bank for retirement. You for a raise here in a few weeks. Asking for 15k. Asked for 15 last year and got 10. Would be nice to get another 10 :-)

Yeah there's max we can put in 401k annually and I met that already so maybe another retirement fund, considering a one time big purchase as a pat on the back. I want a 70 inch TV.

I'd be waaaay to excited about that raise and pay off my car, then invest in an HPF kit.

The rest afterwards would be pocketed and spent carefully.

14k a year is nice, however i don't think that is enough to say "now what?" Congrats on the raise, however you are pretty much making between 200-250 extra a week. Yes, its nice, but nothing worth looking into any big ticket items. Treat yourself to a couple things, but for now, save/invest more.

Question, was this like a signing bonus or did your salary just change? Because if so, well then just enjoy the extra income and be smart with your spending.
