How do you guys feel about Chris Christie?

He's done a lot for our state outside of Sandy including weeding out corruption and taking on the unions all while maintaining a great level of bipartisanship. Currently riding an insane approval rating unmatched in recent history within NJ.

How does everyone see him across the country? (Besides his weight.)

As a NJ native, I like him. His ability to seemingly cut across the party line bullshite is a rarity these days.

Seems like a decent fellow.

I liked his stance on assault weapons/gun control which he acknowledged there's no simple answer and that he's more concerned about getting better help for people who have severe mental issues.

He did well on the Today show this morning. Also, you'll notice he has taken a step back in the last few months. He didn't pile it on Lauer haha.

That's all I know about him, so based on that, I like him.

he's ok in my book

I rarely like the politicians on the conservative ticket but this guy is my favorite politician of our time. This is mostly due to the fact that he's ready and willing to roll up his sleeves to work on some unpopular but necessary issues and he has an uncanny ability to cut through the crap and just tell it like it is. I do wish he would have spent his recent state address acknowledging the lagging employment numbers though and discussing his thoughts on the subject.

As far as the next election, he's pretty much untouchable. And he'll get my vote.

I like the way he's evolved. The guy has serious potential. I like the fact that he's not afraid to give the a*sholes in his party the finger. He's not even afraid to be filmed working with Obama (even though it is a time of crisis).

He's respectable, moderate, and popular. That's a rare combo in the party of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner.

Wow, support from lair...

My favorite is a monthly radio program where he takes calls. He has his staff listen and respond to inquiries the next business day and ensures that right person is accountable. It's incredible

I feel like he should be in the political sub-forum. Other than that, I disagree with some of his political views, but like him as an individual.

This. Mike Huckabee did it, so maybe Christie can too.

In terms of Christie, I voted for him last time around, but am now back in VA, so won't be able to. I absolutely love him. Definitely one of my favorite politicians today. Very, very closely matches my own politics (I'm a moderate Republican/Conservative). Tells it like it is.

That said, I don't know if he would make a great president. I hope he would, but am not sure. Sometimes, at that level, I'll admit you might need more tact.

But at the state level, or even in congress, I think he's fantastic. Can't say enough good stuff about the guy.

ETA: Carskibum, where in Hoboken are you? I was 2nd and Bloomfield for 2 years. You a member of the Hoboken ski club?

I wish he was Governor in my State.

He is the sort of candidate that could actually win the presidency and get some things done.

He can work with everyone though. That's the optimism he brings to the table. Not just hold his breath in the corner like Obama.

Love that he speaks his mind and isn't overly motivated by "what's popular". Don't agree with him on gun control, immigration, and unemployment benefits but think he was a rockstar with the unions (law enforcement and teachers)

+1 He actually tries to keep his word and to reassure everyone that things will be done.

I really like Chris Christie. Rare is the politician who has strong convictions and will outright call you on your bullshit.

Plus I like his views on taxes and spending. Governor Christie and people like him are the future of the Republican Party.
