Where to get an upper?

Have a build going on and I'm looking for an complete 16" flat top upper with m4 feed ramps, what do you guys recommend? (this isn't a full blown noveske build so keeping costs reasonable). And if you can point me in the direction of where I could get it, I would appreciate that.

What are you going to use it for?
Will your life or your loved ones lives ever depend on it?
Do you want a fixed font sight post?
Do you want a railed, tube, or traditional M4 handguard?
Don't you live in some kind of ban state that is picky about the muzzle device?
What's your budget?

We need more information for a real recommendation.

This is the cheapest one I have right now, only a few on gunbroker but around 10 in the shop. The cheaper uppers are the same except they are the standard m4 handguards with a2 front sights. The upper receivers are matrix aerospace and the barrel and FA BCG is sourced out of a machine shop in NC for our base uppers. We do stand behind our product, if you have any problems with it we warranty the upper.

We can build anything that you want, with any parts that you want. We do stock a number of troy and YHM products and we specialize in suppressed .300 blackout guns and piston uppers.

Going to be FA testing a piston upper with a kahntrol brake some time sunday evening, should be fun.

I think he lives up north. Not by us in Florida. Would be easier to buy local, no?

Good luck finding BCM or DD locally. You can always try, but it's difficult. There aren't a ton of distributors that sell them, so you have to go online many times to get them.
As far as buying a locally-built upper, you have to be careful who you are buying from and what you are buying. There are a ton of "fly by night" builders who advertise their products and sing the world about how great they are because they have "mil spec" features or have a rail on them. Often times they aren't using high grade components, and many builders do a lot of stupid things like using Loctite on the barrel nut or receiver extension, or they go out and source cheap parts and rely on the customers never asking where the parts came from. Case in point- in my area in the metro area of the Twin Cities, MN, we have several builders who are utterly horrible. Only two builders statewide (SLR15 and JP) are actually good quality (Huldra and Korstog are good, but are built in Florida). There are a lot of other brands and builders locally that suck. Vulcan, Hess, JS, and several others use crap components but over the years have managed to make good sales from uninformed customers. That's also how DPMS manages to make such high sales- misinformation, ignorance and the mall ninja tacticool zombie hunter crowd.
