Um, not really. Many military people are, but a lot of people can just tear down the M4 and put it back together. Right now, you are unable to buy a burst fire or full auto in stores without a tax stamp for an NFA weapon, which requires a serious background check and a long wait time (6-8 weeks).

So even though you wanted to shout out that you agree with the military... So does the USA, since 1986 to be exact. You can still get them, but there is a lot of red tape, and everything has to be preban guns.

A little education goes a long way.

Who is "the military"? I agree with a few members of the military whom I know personally.

Does the military itself have an official stance on civilians and guns?

You cannot buy burst fire weapons.. Every gun you buy in the states (including AR-15, AK-47 etc..) is semi automatic. One bullet comes out when you pull the trigger. Unless its a musket. Then only one bullet comes out period.

Don't read to far into it. You stated you agree with a few of your buddies, who also agree with current gun laws. Bravo. I lumped them into the military.

Some military I know can't even field strip a glock, so I take their opinions on guns with a light heart.

And Hellfish, yes you can. You can own almost anything you want, including 40mm grenades for your underbarrel launcher if you so desire. The launcher requires a tax stamp, as do each grenade. That's $200 per shot. Getting a pre ban M16 is expensive though. Pre ban AK's are cheaper, but still pricy.

You sure can. They are NFA regulated firearms. They are harder to find since you need to acquire a pre-ban one and $$$

Hmm....not all knowing yet able to dictate the needs of others.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the benevolent, beneficent mayor of Libtardia.

Ya I was just referring to walking into a store and buying a gun. In Texas you can get the items you guys mentioned through a gun trust.

It doesn't take being an "all knowning gun nut" to know that you can't just walk into a store and buy a "burst fire" weapon. The only thing you can buy, without filing lots of paperwork, paying lots and lots of money, and waiting months on end for the ATF to process it is a semi automatic weapon. One trigger pull, one bullet that's it.

All burst fire and fully automatic weapons are highly regulated and registered. It's not easy nor is it cheap to get one.

C'mon now, we can't let facts get in the way of a good narrative.

These military folks tell me how it should be- and guess what- I believe them! And some things get lost in the translation, as I don't know all that much.

They are more educated than most of you gun toting civilian fools on this very subject.
I stopped reading after this.

This thread has covered it all in record time.

-Clear demonstration of how an AR15 is beneficial to ordinary citizens
-Opinion by someone who admittedly knows nothing about firearms based on recommendations of members of the military....who were just giving nothing more than an opinion.

Let's see how many times we can go around and around about this now.

1. AR-15's protect us against ever having a tyrannical government. Talk to any Jewish person who survived the Holocaust about disarming citizens.

2. An AR-15 ban will do nothing. Criminals can still get AR-15's and AK-47's. Mexico! Hello!!!!!
Did the ban stop Columbine or the North Hollywood shooting?

The ban is aimed at disarming normal citizens. As more economic turmoil occurs in our country, the government wants to make sure citizens have the least amount of arms as possible. They do not want to have any uprising. If I were a government official, I would want the same thing. Who cares if the average civilian doesn't have weapons. If a natural disaster, war or economic turmoil happens, the would have body guards and own weapons. I do not blame the government. If I were in their shoes I would do the same thing. Those in power strive to stay in power for a reason. This is going to offend some people, but most of America is ignorant. Most people just watch CNN or Fox and believe everything on there.

If guns didn't exist then people wouldn't get shot by them. Fact.

That's like saying if cocaine didn't exist, no one would OD on cocaine. True, but more would just OD on heroin.
