Opening statement. He must have read Chase's original thread title yesterday. Chase, look at what your sensationalism does!

With his level of training you would think he would keep a cooler head instead of inciting the paranoia.

A qualified individual whose statements could scare a number of people. Does no one understand its rash knee jerk reactions and language like this that will reinforce stereotypes and push legislation along?

How about a better, more level headed approach (even if you disagree)?

The word CEO doesn't trigger any sort of Pavlovian reaction in me, outside of aspiring to be on that level someday.

The only thing that I notice is that the guy appears to be mentally unstable.

You seem more worked up over this "CEO" title than anyone else in the thread. I find it rather ironic that you're fixation has caused you to completely ignore that fact.

All sorts of small business owners have a loose screw. This guy is just one example of many, obviously with an overly dramatic response to something he deems worthy. He's obviously an idiot with the claims he's making and even more so for putting it online.

Well there's nothing really else worth discussing here. We've seen crazy people before, we'll see them again. I'd rather discuss shoddy journalism.

A more cogent argument for reasonable gun control couldn't have been made by the Brady Foundation than this red-faced paranoid ranter.

Breaking: Idiot in video has lost his CCW as a consequence of his threat.

Quote:
Score one for common-sense gun control! Tennessee officials announced today they are revoking James Yeager's handgun carry permit after the firearms training instructor made veiled threats against President Obama and said he would "start killing people" if new gun control restrictions passed. Officials said Yeager, 42, posed a "material likelihood of risk of harm to the public."

Visit yesterday's post to view the original, uncut "Pack Your Bags" video and the follow-up rant, a story which has gone viral due to the violent intentions Yeager expressed in his irrational tirade. In short, he said he was going to be driven to murder if a "dictator" (Obama) pushed through an assault weapons ban or tightened other gun restrictions.

Yeager also encouraged other gun owners to ready their firearms to fight in a "civil war" - murdering people if "necessary" - in order to defend his twisted version of Second Amendment rights.

Commissioner Bill Gibbons of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security said in a statement:

'The number one priority for our department is to ensure the public's safety. Mr. Yeager's comments were irresponsible, dangerous, and deserved our immediate attention. Due to our concern, as well as that of law enforcement, his handgun permit was suspended immediately. We have notified Mr. Yeager about the suspension today via e-mail. He will receive an official notification of his suspension through the mail.'

No permit is needed to own handguns in Tennessee, but Yeager won't be able to carry one with him legally. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if this action will affect Yeager's semi-automatic weapons, which the permit doesn't seem to cover according to the department's website. I hope Gibbons retains adequate security since Yeager has already threatened to kill people for imposing gun restrictions.

There is a seven-year waiting period to re-apply for a handgun permit if a court finds someone to "pose an immediate, substantial likelihood of serious harm...because of mental illness." Let's hope Yeager has to wait at least that long to get his gun carry permit back. Officials said Yeager can seek a court review of the department's decision to revoke his permit.

Yeager has got the message to **** as he told WSMV.com that his attorney will handle his statements going forward.

Tennessee officials explicitly stated that Yeager is not a certified firearms instructor in Tennessee, nor is his business "Tactical Solutions" a certified training school.

Yeager used to be a police chief in Big Sandy, Tennessee, population 500, until the mayor at the time fired him because he didn't agree with Yeager's obsession with forming a SWAT team in the quiet town, according to WSMV.com.

He may, or may not be a nut job. The point is, he is passionate about protecting this right. It seems like the majority of Americans don't give a crap about anything anymore and will absolutely stand to be trampled on by the government. We're a spineless population and won't stand up for anything. People like this will. People like this spark revolution.
Let's put it this way: if guns get banned. And everyone has to register them. And every American has to start wearing a microchip. And everything has to have a government GPS in their car to be taxed by the mile (proposed ATM) and all the wealth is spread evenly.
If all of that happens and we don't have an uprising/revolution I will be thoroughly disappointed and disgusted with our generation.

He seems to be under the impression that his rights > other peoples rights. If he perceives his 2A rights being infringed upon, he is willing to take rights away from other people.

That makes him a nutjob and a scumbag. I agree that standing up for ones rights is paramount, but doing so at the expense of others rights is not the way to go.

It's one thing to be passionate, it's another to make threats.

Am I the only one who didn't think he was going to go an just kill random people? To me it was pretty clear that he was talking about defending his right and to fight those that want to strip him of that right. Was it the smartest thing to do? Definitely not. Would any reasonable person without an agenda actually believe that he was going to go and start offing a bunch of innocent civilians? Definitely not.
