Hello all,

Just thought i'd drop by and introduce myself. My name is Eric, and am a Nissan enthusiast. Needed a daily driver and a friend set me up with my first BMW. It's an 04 325xi 5speed in white with a tad over 100K picked her up for 4K. I don't really know too much about BMW's but I hope to learn alot during my stay here and hope to make some new friends in the process. Here are some pics of her.

Be sure that you like to tinker because these cars need a lot of attention! Namely the entire front axle system for any xi. Wilkkommen!

Don't be afraid to buy bmw special tools or the equivalent custom replacement to do things like bushings and seals etc.

If your not mechanically adept then find a good trustworthy indy. I have a good friend that owns a shop but I still trust only myself to do the job. Beware of lifetime warranty parts from places like carquest or your regional equal. I have had a terrible time with quality from these places for things like axles and rotors. 4 full sets of rotors in 4 years. 3 sets of axles.

While my specialty is focused primarily with nissan, I learned all of my automotive know how by just simply jumping in and going with it everything I've done with the car so far has been straight forward and much easier than my 240sx so that's one thing I'm thankful for! Only real thing I notice is bmw likes using torx drivers haha. As always thanks for the heads up

Looks nice! Welcome to the Xi! It's a great car, take care of it and it'll take care of you. I feel this is the best AWD vehicle out there for daily driving. Lots of guys have well over 200k on these cars, and several claim well over 300k. Preventative maintenance will keep her on the road for a long time. Take a look at the FAQ's, there's some great info out here. Have fun.

I'm on the island in Valley Stream. Winters down here may not be as harsh as they are up in Syracuse but I have a strange feeling we're in for a cold one this year! Past couple years have been pretty mild, including this one so i'm definitely looking forward to having a butt warmer this winter lol.

Lol! Worcester took a record snowfall last winter and my snow thrower's worm gear shredded on the last big one BUT the xit keeps going. Really the only other awd car that beat it to bits was my B5 S4 with snow tires. Audi's awd system was phenomenal then.

Thats awesome man! Good to hear the xi can push on through! I unfortunately had to drive my project car as a daily until now. RWD + Sport tires + two way LSD and slammed on the ground meant at 6 in the morning with a few inches on the ground I couldn't even make it off my own block. Really felt bad for the neighbors, my exhaust isn't too loud but when you're revving the thing up at 6 in the morning trying to get out of the snow you can't help but make some noise lol.

She looks low in the back. I'd have a look at the springs back there, as she should be jutting her rear higher into the air.

I had a bunch of Datsun 510s in the early 80s (I know, ancient history), but got a 2002tii in 86. 12 BMWs later, I rarely think about Nissans unless it's at a rental counter...

As a recovering Nissan (among man, many others) driver, I'm going to go ahead and side with Manny.
