Have you ever thought about how you drove to a specific location? i.e. Your house

Not sure if I'm losing my mind but I really feel like I was subconsciously driving home last night. I got back around 2am and I just thought - "how the **** did I get home?" as I sat in my bed.

I didn't drink, smoke, or anything of the kind.

Not often, but it has happened on straight, boring drives in an automatic vehicle.

I call it "zoning out." If it's a route I take over and over, I get familiar with it. When I memorize it, I just let my body go on autopilot. I'm still aware of my surroundings and can evade an emergency situation if the need arises, but I just kind of "wake up" when I get to where I'm going. It helps on long road trips.

going a coming from work is when i do it most. its usually with routes that i travel a lot.

OP, I know what you mean. One minute I'm driving to work and the next I'm already there! And I'm like how the eff, why so quick?? I don't remember shjt in between and sometimes I wonder how I'm able to follow and stay in the lanes.

Happens more often than you think. Same applies for going to work or any routine path on a daily basis. It's called mental mapping, IIRC.

Driving becomes natural after a while, your sub conscience is able to take control while you're off thinking about what oil you should use such.

I don't know man maybe I'm just getting old, but some days I don't feel like driving, especially in traffic when I'm tired going home from work. And it's not like you couldn't turn that shit off like cruise control.

Neither one here, but I've been taking hydrocodone and percocets since my rotator cuff surgery. Makes me zone out a lot, but not like auto-pilot.

+1 I love to drive and I'm not quite old, but there are some days where I just don't feel like driving.
