Talking Suggestions/Advice for CSL Replica Wheel and Tire Setup?

Hey guys,

I was just looking around one day and came across looking at E46's with CSL rims and was hooked. I've decided to go with 18" wheels.
Would you suggest staggered/non-staggered and what tire size(s) would you recommend for the setup?

It would be a great help if you guys could post what setups you have

The car came with a staggered setup with 215 in the front and 225 in the back (bought used) which seemed to be much more enjoyable than what I currently have, but because the tires were balding, I ended up with non-staggered Falken FK452s. If tires brands are suggested I'd like a low-mid price range.

I have a 2002 Titanium Silver BMW 325 Ci currently using Style 44 wheels with 225/45/17 which I will probably use as winters once I purchase the CSLs. I also live in Toronto where the roads are horrible so I can't have TOO low a profile tire.

Thanks for your input in advance!

I would highly recommend VMR CSL wheels! Excellent product and they look great You might want to check out the wheel and tire thread for better answers.

VMR vb3's ftw. As for tires I run federal ss595, awesome tires for the price but mediocre performance.

I was actually using your CSL pictures as a buying guide. Your setup looks so nice!
I've gone through so many posts and it's all become a blur to me. What's your complete setup? You also seem to have 19"?

I know you have VMR HyperSilver CSLs.

another vote for the VMR wheels

I really like the staggered on the Coupe, but tires will run more and you can't rotate them (if it matters to you).

Thanks! Love the wheels. My setup is 19x8.5 ET40 front with 245/35/19 tires and 19x9.5 ET45 rear with 265/30/19 tires.

They may be lighter... but I don't think the look as good as the VMR's.

Matt that's some meat there, are you having rubbing issues at all in the rear? Just wondering, If I get VMRs I would most likley get 18's though

Hey, no I do not have any rubbing issues at all. I'm most likely gonna downsize the fronts to a 235. But the rear 265s fit perfectly.

What setup would you suggest for 18" on my vehicle?

I think you'll be fine with the 18". I had the very first set of staggered 18" CSL reps in the USA. Very first! Made by VMR. They held up great and I loved them. I have genuine CSL wheels now made by BBS on the M3, so they're 19s. But on my non-M Coupe the 18s were just fine.

I recently purchased Hyper Silver VMR VB3 in 18" staggered.

8.5" in the front and 9.5" in the back. They are wrapped in 225 front and 255 back Falken452 tires.

Everythings so expensive in canada. The VMR wheels are 1.1k here.
I found another brand for 600 but I don't want to risk it.

Sportlines are really lightweight, and ultimately rotary forged (also called flow formed). They're great looking wheels, and I would highly suggest them for a great overall look, take a look here:

*Sportline CS.16 CSL Style Wheels 18" & 19"- for BMW E36/E46/E9X/Z3/Z4

I have sets in stock ready to ship out immediately, with, or without tires!!

Ah thanks for suggesting the sportlines. Unfortunately I'm going to order locally due to ridiculous customs duties and taxes for Canada.
