Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress

http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn...rhood-fortress

Quote:
A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."

Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:

Patriotism
Pride in American Exceptionalism
Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes

--such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."

Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated.

The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.

The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased.

While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:

"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
The doomsday preppers are increasing by the day

And another... (not sure if he's planning to wall it in though)

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2013...g-his-own-city

Quote:
Glenn Beck has a dream. On Thursday, the former Fox News host, gold bug, survival-seed guru, movie star, and bestselling author unveiled plans for a new planned community-inspired by the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged-to be built at an undisclosed location somewhere in the United States*.

No, really:

Glenn believes that he can bring the heart and the spirit of Walt's early Disneyland ideas into reality. Independence, USA wouldn't be about rides and merchandise, but would be about community and freedom. The Marketplace would be a place where craftmen and artisan could open and run real small businesses and stores. The owners and tradesmen could hold apprenticeships and teach young people the skills and entrepreneurial spirit that has been lost in today's entitlement state.

There would also be an Media Center, where Glenn's production company would film television, movies, documentaries, and more. Glenn hoped to include scripted television that would challenge viewers without resorting to a loss of human decency. He also said it would be a place where aspiring journalists would learn how to be great reporters.

Across the lake, there would be a church modelled after The Alamo which would act as a multi-denominational mission center. The town will also have a working ranch where visitors can learn how to farm and work the land.

Independence would also be home to a Research and Development center where people would come to learn, innovate, educate, and create. There would be a theme park for people to recharge and have fun with their families.

People would also have the option to live in Independence, with a residential area where people of different incomes could all come together and be neighbors.

Beck estimates the city-theme-park will cost about $2 billion to build, or roughly .002 trillion-dollar platinum coins, or .178 Fox News blue whales.

Correction: This post originally stated that the city would be in Texas. Beck hasn't specified which state he'll build Independence in.

So long as they aren't impeding individuals rights, sovereignty, or natural law, what's wrong with this? Live and let live.

These paranoid clowns get more ridiculous by the minute. Sure, of course, let them build their bunkered utopia of "American Exceptionalism" that, well, seals them off from most of America and Americans (do they not see the irony in all this?). Guess they love everything about America except for most of America and most Americans.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out when it comes to, say, gay right/marriage, abortion, religious minorities (can't wait for the first mosque and muslim families dedicated to living under Sharia values), minorities, etc. Of course, their website does warn: "Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles." Sounds like an extremely proscribed and crimped interpretation of American liberty, freedom and individual rights. I'd love to read a copy of their application form.

Oh well, perhaps best for the rest of us to keep these silly kooks cooped up where they'll represent less of a threat to the rest of America. I surmise that it would be too long before all these armed-to-the-teeth "patriots", all penned in together in close proximity, start letting their paranoias run rampant and turning on each other with their arsenals. This should all be very amusing to watch play out.

It would be great to live alongside like-minded individuals, no matter how to define it. That being said, in an arrangement like that it is going to have a lot of HOA rules which is funny since the premise is living in freedom.

Perhaps this Citade community would be more a matter of keeping the turds in.

Therein lies the issue. The Federal govt rules all of the US, the Idaho govt rules all of Idaho, they'll also be subject to a county govt, and maybe a municipality.

While creating a neighborhood of like-minded individuals can certainly promote a sense of community, they're still going to be subject to tax laws, anti-discrimination standards, environmental regs, building codes and every other US and local law.

So if moving inside this walled city is a community thing, or anti-crime thing, or disaster preparedness thing, great. But if at it's core, it's a political thing (which it likely is, given the statement about Marxists, et al) and they think building this wall is going to exempt them from all the laws that the rest of us are subject to, that will be a serious issue.

I don't understand how isolation leads to education. I feel sorry for those children.

I'm not sure which is worse. What he said or that you think it represents a given political ideology. Simple explanations for simple minds I guess :duuno:

Hardcore liberals tend to be as intolerant of opposing views are hardcore conservatives.

I didn't know all internet postings had to have footnotes, I didn't get the memo.
