A year in review of being single...
Many of you know that almost exactly a year ago my gf of almost 3 years and I split up. At first is was a mutual thing because we weren't working out but then I had regrets. I wanted to make it work, she did not, and I had to deal with that. It was rough for a while but almost immediately I knew I was happier. There was no pressure and I could do anything I wanted. It opened up my eyes to all the negative attributes she had and how I was lying to myself about the relationship. I think part of the issue was that I was 29 years old and wanted to be done with dating and settle down. This was a big fault of my own that I had to deal with. So I figured I would give a little review of my past year of being single to make some of you guys feel a little better.
Early January we broke up and I wanted to fix things. I laid low, tried one last time about a month after the split and she didn't want to work it out. I moved on and just said to myself that's it. I'll try to see what's up with other girls. The entire year pretty much went like this...I went out almost every weekend, I did a lot of weekend trips, parties etc. There wasn't many weekends where I didn't have something planned involving a bunch of friends or potential to meet new people. After a little while (after I knew we wouldn't get back together) I was ready to try and bang chicks. I didn't necessarily want to start a new relationship but I wanted some female interaction. In the past year I banged 5 girls, went on a few dates, tried to like certain girls etc. Some of the girls I took out reminded me a lot of what I was dealing with the ex. I just wanted a girl around and I learned from my mistakes and cut it off with some that weren't worth it. A month ago I ended up meeting a girl I knew of from high school that's around my age. We've been clicking pretty well and it seems to be going places. I've been so happy, nicer to people, and more positive than I've ever been in my life this past year. It's a good feeling that I haven't had in a while and it makes being away from the ex even easier. I can admit, some of you may not believe me, but I have no interest in the ex whatsoever. I haven't even seen her since the break up when we returned each others stuff. So guys, don't worry about what you lost. Things work out. For many of these encounters I had to get out of my comfort zone a little bit. Don't be afraid to do that. Very rarely to girls just fall on your lap. So stop being so fuucking emo and get out there. Smile a lot, be kind of a dick, and be a little more alpha than the next guy and you'll be alright. These things seem to work pretty well for me. |

I am happy things have been and continue to move in a positive direction for you. Your advice and posts are more laid-back and less cocky than what I have read from other members. I think it helps those who are needing some inspiration to get themselves back into the game.

I'm glad to have shared this year with you Solly
![]() It's a bit odd for me to read your review w/ being a part of a good majority of threads and have gone through much of the same myself. I haven't had a "girlfriend" in my life for about 13 months now and personally am not looking to find one. I had been with a serious GF for the good majority of my life and up until a year ago hadn't been out of a relationship for more than about 4 months. As I'm just now 25 I know we are at different points, but given I had a serious girl starting at 17 I felt it was time to lay low for a bit. After breaking up w/ the last one I went through a good 5 months of just doing nothing but recently have found quite a few girls to entertain myself with. I hate that I still think about the last one from time to time...she was pretty awesome and it sucks that I have thoughts about it. However I know that it's what was meant to be and not holding myself back any because of it. I think I will continue my no GF trend for sometime now and focus much like you did on myself and doing things that I want to in my life. Have trips planned out for a majority of the year and am happy w/ a few girls that exist on the back burner that I know I could go visit if things really got bad and needed some female attention. I've been varying age range quite a bit and have enjoyed the differences that exist....plus it makes for some fun stories. Here's to 2013 though and continuing down a good road!

If you look like a boy band member, and don't act like a b1tch, women enjoy it. ![]() I've been single 3 years, come at me bro.

You know the relationship wasn't that great at the end of the day if you feel great after the breakup. I felt suffocated too but didn't take me 3 years to break up... just a year

yea man. I had this lonely feeling after we split but I was the happiest I've been in a while so it was a bit weird. If I was younger and more immature I wouldn't have been able to move on so well.

I'll be in Vegas this upcoming weekend. If you drive over we'll be partying...I'm sure females will be within our vicinity on a regular basis.

do you think you will be as happy in a relationship as you are single? when i was single and independent i did whatever the fvck i wanted whenever the fvck i wanted. now, about to get married, i am starting to freak out a little, that never again will i have that same freedom. **** swings both ways. single and free, but missing having someone or having someone and losing some freedom and independence.
