Dexter: Season 8

Figured since we didn't make a new thread for season 7 we might as well have one for season 8.

For those of you who don't have Showtime throughout the year, the network has decided to split up Homeland and Dexter as they are the biggest show and use them to help launch upcoming new series. Dexter will be running w/ the new "Ray Donovan" featuring Liev Schreiber as a professional "fixer" for the rich and famous in Los Angeles. Showtime has confirmed 12 episodes.

So due to this fact, Dexter will be returning this summer rather than fall. Premiere date is now set for June 30th at 9PM

In the mean time Californication, House of Lies, and Shameless have all started and will make due until June.

I just hope it does end with season 8. I've read that there's a possible season 9.

http://screenrant.com/dexter-season-8-9-premiere-date/

If that turns out to be the case, it'll be too drawn out IMO.

if this is the last season, i'll watch it just so i can say i saw every episode. however, if they decide to do a season 9, i'm not gonna bother watching this coming season. i've been tired of this show since the john lithgow season.

I'm getting tired of the show. I'm ready for him to go out with a bang.

I saw the portion about Showtime considering the option for a 9th season. They need to end it while fans are still interested and involved in the show. Last season was phenomenal in my mind. The character interaction and development was superb. Both Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter added a great amount of depth to their characters, some of the conversations between the two of them and individual moments were top notch for the series as a whole. Season 7 wasn't nearly as good as years past however I really enjoyed the plot line throughout.

I'm definitely looking forward to this.... Maybe more so than that last half of Breaking Bad. I was surprised when they announced the June premier. Season 7 just ended weeks ago! Nevertheless, this will be awesome! Season 8 will be the closure.

Exactly. IMO seasons 5-7 were eh. Not horrible, but just didn't measure up to the previous 4 seasons. Season 7 was amazing. It reminded me of the first 3 seasons how good it was. If they end it at 8, it won't become stale and drawn out. Hopefully they recognize that and don't try to cash in on one more season afterwards.

I do feel like this is going to be the last season. Things are getting to close to hime being caught or killed. I would gladly watch more season but I feel like this is it, and that doesn't really bother me. Its been a great run and I wouldn't mind seeing the end.

Dexter is much more enjoyable if you 'binge view' a ton of episodes at once versus waiting 7 days. The suspense is just too much to handle. Can't wait for the next Season. I also just finished both seasons of Homeland so I'm looking forward to that returning as well.
