Loose part

So several months ago I hit a large pothole with the front right wheel. Steering/handling has been off ever since. Brought the car into the Dealer who checked the car, had it aligned, and said everything (suspension) looked good. Yesterday, when changing my oil, this part (pics attached) was sitting on the plastic underbody covering under the right front. Dealer negligence aside, what the hell is it and how do I fix it!

The previous owner must have changed a bad axle and forgot to throw away the old seal.

Check the fluid level, or better yet replace it next time you are under the car.
