Quad Projectors from OEM Halogen

The projectors are held in tight with the back nut to the oem frame so that is a no go. I do agree with you on adding washers but that will make the cutoff extremely bad because you are pretty much beveling the light pattern

Anyone done quads to OEM halogens to confirm/deny this leveling problem?

Would be any problems in wiring the quads as follows:

Parkers (1st stage on dial) wired to the outer projectors, to act as normal headlights.

Headlights (2nd stage on dial) wired to the inner projectors, to allow all 4 projectors to come on if necessary.

I have no need for the inners to be on by themselves (I never used parkers)

Am I overlooking any potential problems?

Have the outer (low beams) wired normally so when you turn the dial all the way to the right they will come on normally like they are supposed to. Run a wire harness with this setup anyways.


For the inner second set run them with a wire harness too, connect the trigger wire to the turn signal and run a switch into the cabin.

And if you want the high beam motor to flip up you will need another wiring harness or custom connect your own wires.

I am confused about which harness I need, some people are saying 9006? TRS told me H7?

2002 Sedan (Facelift), OEM Halogen, just upgrading to one set of Morimoto H1s for now.

I am ordering:

Mini H1 projectors
E46-r Shrouds
Wiring Harness

Already have H1 HID kit.

Just need to confirm which harness? Cheers.

You need to buy the harness for the connection that is in your car right now. Are your current bulbs H7? If so then this is the harness you need. The HID kit will have a universal connection to the harness. Typically a 9006 style plug.

Yea they are H7 bulbs, the only thing that confused me was reading that the E46 comes with a stock 9006-H7 adapter for the bulbs, in which case I wasnt sure which harness I would need? Definitely H7?

Take a picture of your stock connection and post it.....

Are you sure you know what your getting into? This isn't an easy project.

It is the same as everyone elses, and takes regular H7 bulbs. Definately the H7 canbus then? Have you done this?

Nope never done it. Thought about it for the Rex but still have other projects with higher priority. I have read enough DIYs on the matter though to know its not for a beginner. I mean Solidjake is a mod master and still had an issue arise. If you are having this many questions with the easiest part of the mod, then I can imagine what kind of troubles you're going to run into. No disrespect meant. Good luck.

Yup 9006. It seems there is an adapter on the H7 bulb that converts into a 9006 connection.

So TRS are wrong in suggesting an H7 CanBus harness? This has been my only confusion... I need a 9006 CanBus harness, to go in between my headlights (9006 connector) and my HID Ballats (also 9006 connector) Correct?

Yes mate. How about the inner bulbs what are they?

Edit: well it also depends if you are going to have to reuse the adapter there. If you are reusing the adapter you will still need the H7 harness.
