Soda Ban gets more interesting

Tried to post in original thread but couldn't find one?

Anyway, looks like the NAACP is backing the sugary soda industry in Bloomburg's quest to ban 20oz sodas. The ban is hilarious to start. This just adds another level of humor. Discuss on...

I am glad I live in Texas. My dad would freak the **** out. He is addicted to Dr. Pepper. Oh and this is just the start of our one world government. It's happening so slowly though no one really pays attention to.

Freedom to abort your unborn child, no freedom to drink a big soda. America!

meh, if it brings down the rate of obesity, it's a good thing in my book. Health care costs killing our economy and this country. Extreme levels of obesity call for extreme measures.

I cant seem to recall all these Republican individuals' rights people being so vocal about GW Bush trampling on our rights and liberties in the name of the "war on terror". All of a sudden, you can take this soda out of my cold fat dead hand? Strange.

I think the last time I had a soda was last week when I didn't have coffee available and drank some coke for caffeine. Even before then it had been over a month.

I drink water mostly, I like it

War on Terror is a lot different than a war on Dr. Pepper.

Funny to watch two liberal entities battle each other, though. It's like when we pit two 3rd world nations against each other and sit back and watch them destroy each other.

of course. But people, especially on the right, are trying to make this a major individual rights issue. My point is that these same people were suspiciously quiet during the biggest period of government crushing individual rights in recent history.

Everyone was quiet. Only a handful of folks voted a against it.

Plus, whether true or not, people perceive this as more impactful to the average citizen than the Patriot Act. How does each impact your day to day? Patriot Act is a minor inconvenience when flying, besides that very limited to me. On the other hand:

I can't get a 20 oz soda in the city now. How am I supposed to pregame at a buddies place on the upper east side if I want rum and coke? Do I need to drag a 2 liter in with me from Jersey? or buy Multiple 16oz at a higher cost?

What about seltzer? Is that going to be impacted? I love vodka Soda.

haha you get the point.

Ask the guys that were tortured, held without access to due process, shipped off to god knows where to be held by foreign intelligence agencies, etc.

Look, I actually agree with much of the stuff thats in the Patriot Act, but it just kills me to hear people talk about Dems and them trampling all over the constitution, when really the biggest damage to individuals' rights came under Bush.

However, when your relate the law to my ability to pour a proper drink, you really do make me think twice about it...

Nanny state. We, the politicians, know better than you the people.. therefore we should dictate what you can and can't have access to for your own good. Sorry but this is NOT what our founding fathers fought for.
