The Pheonix
I am an M Roadster driver new to the E46 world. I couldn't imagine converting my M Roadster into a track car and I couldn't afford a nicer car so I bought a wrecked E46 M3. I imagined there is no better way to learn about a car, chassis and engine than take on apart and put it back together. It worked for my Triumph Spitfire (s) in the 80s. This should be much faster and with some of you helping my NUB questions then I might succeed. I posted albums of the 2001 auction car and what I discovered when I took the car apart. Comments are encouraged. I really hope that anyone that has ever wnated to build a car for road racing will pitch me their opinions about what they would do with some of the build. Thanks

Welcome. Sounds like an ambitious plan. Side note: Don't know how you got your own font on here. I've never seen than before.

Thanks City John. I guess the cool part of a wrecked car is Im not worried about screwing the car up. As for the font? Its an option in my reply....

It will be a long road
Thanks, This forum has been a great help so far. Of Course there is nothing like pulling off the wrecked front end of a car and working on the frame to get to know a car. I will continue to post progress and I look forward to hearing as many opinions as possible about the direction to take the build (Positive and Negative.)
My goal is a dedicated track car that I won't get spanked in. I don't have unlimited money to spend but instead of spending $15K on an E46, I have that money for upgrades. 1. This week : Engine and Transmission removed. 2. Then replace left and right wheel house and Bumper rails. (BIG PROJECT) 3. When I am frustrated by the frame repairs, I will tinker withe the engine. (I didn't say do anything with the engine) Plan: Biased opinions elicited Lighten the load (Interior must go) Headers Intake, Pulley Kit Upgade Oil cooler and Radiator suspension The Hermannator |
