you actually drive your M3 in snow?!!!!!!!

i own an 03' SMG but couldnt imagine driving it the snow. With snow tires does the car even move? does it "fishtail" a lot? does anyone drive their M3 on stock 19's in the snow??? is it scarry as all hell?! i use to have a 2001 Lexus IS300 and that car was horrible in the snow...even with 16" rims and Blizzak tires. So, i could imagine the M3 being WAY worse than an IS300, since the M3 has so much more torque and larger tires.

on 17's and winter tires, for the past 2 winters i drove it daily-- snow, ice, rain, whatever (some would say this is sacreligious)
only trouble was when i came to a full stop on a hill that had icy snow on it, and then tried to move forward, my tires would spin, so i had to do a running start up my driveway kind of
if you have another car to drive, obviously dont take the M out.. but its my only car

I say, if you can afford an M3, you can spend 3 grand on a ten year old Honda for winter. Unless you just won't look "cool" enough not driving a BMW.
As far as being able to, some good snow tires and a few sand bags in the trunk, it should get around well enough. A few years ago, I saw a '67 Corvette up skiing, even had a ski rack. I kinda wanted to slap him.

DSC does not count for s***

Last spring I got caught in a small storm. I made it home fine but I could not get up my driveway! DSC kept cutting out the throttle. I turned it off and made it up the drive, slightly sideways. The BMW manual actually advises to turn DSC off in snow! The M is now parked and I have to freeze my a$$ in a ford taurus station wagon. Anything to keep my ride out of the snow now.

M3 + Snow + hill = higher insurance, new paint, and not having your car for about three weeks

She is safely tucked away during the wintery weather we experienced in the Buckeye state!!! I use to own a Dakkar Yellow E36 M3 and was forced to drive it on a snowy day. The E36 M and snow don't mix as I slid into the curb (albeit at a slow speed) in about six inches of snow. I never drove it again!!!! Fortunately, there was no damage.
