excuses to go for a ride?

I'm always looking for excuses to go for a ride..my parents don't really like when I just drive around aimlessly so I like to leave with an excuse to go somewhere so that they are able to relax and not worry about me as much. Anyway what are some excuses you guys use with your parents/wives/etc?

Tell them you're gonna go do a test drive because you just changed your oil or something under the hood. You mean they won't let you leave if you told them you're bored and just want to get some air?

Tell them you're going to look at apartments. They'll probably offer you gas money.

It will wear off after a while, and when it does get an M. Thats what I did, now its started all over again As for making up crap

BTW the reason she felt bad is that you told her you were getting washer fluid, and three hours later you came home. She probably thought something happened to you don't ya think. Be considerate and honest to them they obviously care about you.

- Move out so you can quit having to tell anyone where you're going.

- Just tell them its a lovely day and you're going out for a drive.

- If you have a camera, tell them you're going out to look for stuff to take pictures of. Have pics to show when you get back.

Well, OP... This being OT, and since you apparently have parental supervision (indicating a tender age), someone will eventually and inevitably bring up the financial aspects of "just driving around." Might as well be me...

Gasoline = $3+ a gallon (let's leave it at $3 so the math is easy).

Car being driven gets ~20 MPG (let's leave it at 20 so the math is easy).

Say you drive, oh, 120 miles just driving around. That's 6 gallons, or $18.

Think of it this way: 18 divided by 120, = $0.15 a mile on gas alone (not counting insurance, depreciation, wear-and-tear, etc.). Picture your window rolled down, and every time you drive a mile, you're tossing a dime and a nickel out the window. At sixty miles an hour, you're tossing $9 out the window every hour. Perhaps your allowance will cover this, or your part-time job pays more than $9 an hour. Good for you! Otherwise, aimless burning of precious fossil fuels may not be the best financial idea ever...

Having said all that, however, I must admit I drive often and aimlessly myself, just for the sheer joy of being on the road in a fun vehicle, so don't take this to mean I disapprove of your for-the-hell-of-it drives...
