Looking for a new car thats good on fuel
Hey guys so lately for work i have had to drive an hour each way to work roughly 230 KM each day. Right now my DD is my 98 dodge 2500 Cummins 24 valve. Now it get great Higway MPG for a truck, Im getting around 18 with it. But its costing me over a Grand a month to drive it to work nearly 10K a year. Thats too much for me so im looking for something else I can drive that will cost less.
The two things im looking at right now is the base line civic or a new Jetta TDI but when i went to try and build my own online it dosent let you pick the TDI motor unless you pick the most expensive trim option and with that the car is only going to save me about $1000 a year on fuel which isnt worth it to me. Maybe some one can shed more light on this? Any other suggestions? If i cant get the TDI in the base line model i think ill be going with a civic

My truck is going to cost me 12k a year to fuel not couting breakdowns, so the cost of payments for the year and gas has to be less than 10 grand for it to be worth it. I went on VW website where you can build your own, The base line model is 14k but it dosent let you choose the TDI as an option just the 2.0 Gas The top of the line model is like 26k and its the only one that you can get the TDI in ( according to the site) and that would only save me a grand in the long run so its not worth it

Yikes 230K daily? Do you work at an oil patch somewhere in Alberta?
Buy one of these. Will pay for itself in about 2-3 weeks. They are so reliable, its scary. |

Skyactiv Mazda3 i touring 6 speed has an Msrp of 19,500. Invoice of about 18,500 with about 2250 in dealer cash. So brand new getting 40+ mpg will cost you @16,250 brand new.

Not sure about importing them from the states. I work weyburn its pretty close to the US border. Im a welder but i work all over the place, Stayed with a company for a long time but they started to go under just before Xmas so i got this job in a shop right now. Im not interested in buying used, There is a chance its going to break and cost me money and negate any saving. I want something cheap and plan on selling after a few years, If i cant get a TDI in the "trendline" trim package its out of the running
