My Sister Died...

one week ago today. she was 22. She was misdiagnosed with sinuses and rhinitis for 3 weeks. She saw 6 doctors in this time. On Sunday April 17th my dad took her to the hospital, said he wasn't leaving till they figure out what's wrong with her. They did a CT scan, and found a tumor 4cm in diameter. They were planning to operate on tuesday. When the doctor saw her on monday morning, she was pushed up to monday afternoon.

Between 11:15 am and 12:00 pm, she had a stroke from the pain and pressure, her heart rate went to 268. My mom was the only one with her at this point. She stayed the night with her. We were told she would be okay, but would need recovery time due to the location of the tumor. So my dad and I went home to get some sleep, and came back around noon. I got to the hospital and she was at the ICU. She was already sedated. I didn't know that I would never be able to talk to my sister again.

They operated on Monday. Took the tumor out. They think the tumor was benine, and if she was treated a week earlier she would have lived. She was on life support from monday until early friday morning. She donated her organs. She saved 3 lives. The one that hit us the most is that she donated her liver to a little girl, which saved her life.

She died on Good Friday. She was very religious. She was such an amazing person. She always made good grades in school, while balancing friendships and relationships. She was the best sister, best friend I ever could have asked for. I was blessed to have her for the 19 years I did. She was loved by so many. My family is in a lot of pain right now, but it is Gods will. We have our own plan, but the man upstairs has his. She was scheduled to graduate this summer. She studied to the day she died really. She had an internship in NYC over the summer, she couldn't wait.

Please guys, if you think you are not getting the real problem figured out, PUSH HARDER. Demand more tests. This is the hardest thing I have had to deal with in my life. I do not wish this upon anyone.

There is now a scholarship fund set up in her name.

this is sad to hear Andrew... stay strong. It sounds like your sister was an awesome person, and it shows how compassionate, selfless, and generous she was that even after she passed, she gave herself to others so they could save their lives. Let us know if you need anything bud. We're here for you.

Sorry for your loss can't imagine your pain. Organ donation is awesome though and I am extremely grateful for people who do donate. My dad received a liver couple years ago and it was the best thing ever. My condolences to you and your family.
