That's the way it usually is....it's all gravy until it affects them directly.

Edit:

Tell them yeah! I'm for smaller government too! Lets all fire ourselves!

Better be :p

Smaller government isn't so much a problem as getting our spending under control.

I don't know how others feel but personally I wouldn't go to my credit lender and ask for a raise in my credit limit. Instead I would be responsible and pay down my debt while cutting back on the luxuries of my spenditures. Sorry for the rant. Myself and another engineer have been discussing running some statistics on government data to check for accuracy and efficiency.
What are you saying?

No bitterness, day off work.

Just have things higher on my priority list. Cleaning garage, mounting reloading press, loading bullets. Doing laundry. Going to the grocery store. Busy day.

Not sure how you quoted me as I deleted the post to avoid turning this into a debate thread. Anyhow I was referencing the democrats who urged Obama to raise the debt ceiling if an agreement was not reached in time. The thread should not be too far down if you really want to read.

So you say that raising the debt ceiling is aking to asking for a raise in one's credit limit while the responsible thing would be to pay down the debt. You're not inspiring much confidence in your understanding of how these things work.

So you think we shouldn't have budget cuts? I realize that not potentially raising the ceiling could cause us to default but it could also produce the budget we have been waiting for. Let me ask you this. You think it's okay for the government to keep raising the debt ceiling because they have the power to do so but yet refuse to curb the atrocious spending habit?

Edit: raise it temporarily to avoid a crisis but get spending under control. I'll be nice and give in a little bit.

Celebration of freedom and democracy is celebrated once a year on the 4th of July. This is just a waste of 50+ million dollars, for that price tag blow some sh!t up or play a football game :rolf: No gives a damn about parades and politicians blowing smoke up everyone's ass. I didn't even know it was today I until seeing this thread

The spending has gone up due to many different factors, several of them one-time occurences (economic crisis stimulus, tax cuts, wars, etc...)

It needs to be controlled, of course, but let's not build nuclear bombshelters yet. It will be ok.

Meanwhile, creepy as fvck McConnell:

Unnecessary expense for any president serving his second term. This is my opinion regardless of the particular president who is being inaugurated. Did I complain during Bush II's second inauguration / celebration? No, I was too young and dumb to care that it was going on at all since I was probably more worried about chasing girls around a college campus, but now I can see what a waste of money it is.
