How could an empty tank not be an issue? For those of you with fi cars you should never romp on them with low fuel. I recommend at least 1/4 tank.

I was just under the assumption it was missing during idle. (First Start Up) If that was the case. It will be highly unlikely for it to missed fire. It would be another issue.I would agree not to be below 1/4 of a tank when FI.

![]() If it is missing at idle you need to check the basics: air, fuel, spark. Swap around coils, compression test, swap around injectors.

Problem fixed. I had to remove the intake because I had a coolant leak and when I put it all back the problem was fixed.
Now I just need to weld up the exhaust. Aslo dose anyone know of a different or better radiator fan? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Bimmer App

I'd highly recommend a smoke/pressure test to ensure a leak-free system. We put these cars together every day and we still pressure test them.

I hit a deer a few years ago and the shroud was cracked so I threw it away when I pulled the engine with plans to replace with OEM. Just figured I'd ask before I bought an OEM one.
So I took it around the block and noticed that under boost A/F raito is good but at partial load it goes super lean. Idle is also steady(14-15.4). My partial load I mean just normal driving not flooring it.

There are 2 water temp sensors on the M54: Cylinder head, and coolant outlet at the radiator. The one on the cylinder head is used to run the EMS adaptations, and also the thermostat switching. The one at the radiator runs the fan.....I've only ever seen temps from the cylinder head sensor....and I'm not sure if most monitoring software even looks at the radiator temp sensor. Edit: Here's what I was able to monitor in 2009...looks like I was watching both. Note the temp range available as well: ![]() One good piece of info is that the radiator fan is controlled by a solid state relay that is mounted onto the fan assembly. (Thats the black blow a the top) This means you can use a low level switching signal to control the fan if you want externally. Last edited by PEI330Ci; 02-12-2013 at 04:56 AM. I never killed my pump, but you will if you run it for a while like this. It would be pretty obvious though, as the steering at slow speeds would be a handful. (Manual steering) |

Well its done with the exception of the Power steering. Right now I am using the M3 Pressure plate with the stock clutch and it seems to be holding fine(car hasn't seen full boot though). I have a new clutchnet Kevlar clutch but I won't put it in unless I need to.
