Spartacus: War of the Damned

This is the third and final season of the show - begins airing 25 January 2013...
LINK

However, I just got back from screening episode 1 of "War of the Damned"!! And, on a movie theater screen no less.

From what was shown... this will be a most bloody season!

In my opinion, this has been one of the greatest series in all of television history. I can't wait for this season to begin.

^Agreed. I was late to get onto this show. My boys kept telling me to watch it. Absolutely amazing. It's a shame the original actor passed away.

It truly was a great lost when Andy Whitfield passed.. not just to the show itself but to the world, he had that raw charisma about him and to be so humble of a guy in real life.

The new actor Liam McIntyre is just now bringing the type of energy that Andy brought to the show (for Season 3.. season 2 was mehh.. imo) Steven DeKnight said/promised this third season will be packed full of action, so I guess we'll see how it all goes soon enough.

I will say this.. the guy they have chosen to play Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells) he's someone to watch. Just from this first episode, I think he'll do the show justice in giving us a "villain" similar to John Hannah's portrayal of Batiatus.

Also, the house slave Kore' played by Jenna Lind is quite cute in her innocent mannerisms

Personal house slave Kore' to Crassus

But, I do miss Katrina Law as Mira. She's a hottie don't tell my wife I said that.

Side NOTE -
This was news to me, so I'm just sharing it with yall >
During the screening (actually right before the show) there was a Q&A with the actors & producer - Steven DeKnight... and near the very end of this meeting he dropped a very interesting clue of what he's working on next after S.W.o.t.D ends.

He said the show's name is Incursion, set in the future and definitely Sci-fi! The show will focus on a squad of space marines fighting a war against hostile aliens. It's going to be like HALO meets 300 meets Saving Private Ryan, end quote.

Very exciting stuff. Bring it!

I wouldn't call Spartacus the "greatest series on TV" but it was still very good. I'm stoked for the new season. I though Liam did well as a replacement!

... and lets not forget about Viva Biance

NWS

I also really liked Brooke Williams in the show. I was mad they killed her before she got naked.

Love the first season, second meh! High hopes for three. I think I am going to skip it and wait until it is out on demand and start from the beginning.

The only other "swords & sandals" type TV show I really liked was "ROME" 2005, Link. That series was quite good in itself.

No, no I didn't forget Ms. Viva... thank you for that jpg.
But, I think I'm just more attracted to brunettes.

Thanks for the reminder. set to record.

I think I only watched the first season and some of the 2nd. I remember that the original actor that played the lead died, and watching it with the new guy was weird.

I just bought my gladiator costume. Gonna dress up, rail slave bitches, and slice up my neighbor after the new episode. Game on fools.

I really liked it too. The new villain/boss is a badass.

You mean Crassus, yes?
At first, I wasn't sure about the actor.. but at the end of the episode, he proved to be quite up for the part. I loved the way he was trying to get "into the mind of a Spartacus" by fighting an ex-gladiator, that was just raw genius...

I can't wait to see the next episode.

Yeah, I like how he shows respect for Spartacus as an opponent/leader. It'll be a great battle when they (eventually) fight one on one.

Well, this is the final season of the show and as we all know from history, Spartacus will die. I think it's great that his death will eventually come from a man that respects him as a warrior and strives to stand as his equal and not some overly powerful aristocrat who will just send thousand of people to do his work for him.

There may be a twist to his death however that I'm sure won't be historically accurate at all...probably they both kill each other type of thing.

The show hasn't really followed the era of Spartacus 100%, so we'll just have to wait and find out!
