Just saved my cars life, almost lost mine

Its raining on the way back from work, I go over a puddle while in the fast lane, fu**in car pulled to the left almost putting me into the wall. I reacted so quick to save my car, I got the car to spin the other way, did like a crazy ass 360 and finally stopped with my car facing the wall. Luckily there werent any cars coming in the lane i ended up in or else I'd be FU**ED!

Perhaps you should stop responding. It's a no-win for you here. :dunno:

My Ride: A car.
Good to hear you're ok it can be scary to get hydroplaning at speed.
It rains so infrequently in SoCal that peeps don't know how to drive in the rain so I try and stay off the roads when it does because of that. I learned my formative driving while growing up in Hawaii where we get frequent tropical storms where visibility is almost zero with wipers on high. People in Hawaii might be **** drivers when it's dry (lol) but they do much better in the wet than people here in SoCal.

If I recall correctly, 2000 323ci's still had ASC and not DSC. Does your button say DSC or ASC?

The day I got my drivers license I was headed home in the left lane (probably going about 75), when the truck in the right lane about one hundred yards in front of me had a blowout. There was smoke everywhere and all I saw was the remnants of his big ass tire flying into my lane. I nailed my brakes and flew onto the shoulder (less than a foot from the wall), and luckily missed both the tire and the wall. I knew that my E46 doesn't have the ground clearance to accommodate such a large obstacle. Thank god I was paying attention and the DSC kicked in when I swerved into the shoulder.

I've had my car pull off to the side of the road when going through deep puddles, however that was at probably 30 or 35 mph. I made a little correction and kept going.

It sounds like you made a big correction and actually caused the car to spin. If you hit a puddle on the left, you should spin counter clockwise. You spun clockwise because of your correction.

But you know non-Ms, with DSC functioning properly the situation he describes is near impossible. It isn't full proof, but allowing the car to do 180s and 360s? Nah.

Sounds like more luck than anything, but congrats on walking away without any damage to the car or yourself.

I would have bought a lottery ticket after something like that.

Its impossible for either of us to say for certain what actually happened. DSC is pretty great, but I don't think it can correct for an immediate Scandinavian flick on the highway.
