M3 E46 VIN Number PK vs EX?

Anyone know what the difference is? The first two characters in the last 7 characters of the VIN, most cars have PK, although some have EX? I'm only really looking at Convertibles, so not sure if that plays into it? Most verts are PK, although I've seen a couple EX's too.

I have EX in my vin # my car is 2002 M3 vert

According to that, both "E" and "P" denote the same thing.

I think P is probably found in later builds.

Yes, looks like it. All built in Regensburg. My 2001 vert was built the last week of July 2001* and has an EX vin.

* I think it has some 2002 things on it

like a factory strut bar for instance.

If I had an EX, I might just say it's EXecutive package.
