Is my rev limiter broken?
I have a 318ci, 2l N42. I could swear it only used to rev to just over 6,000rpm and I just hit 7,000 as I kinda sorta forgot to change up while eating... My bad.
I'm hoping I remembered incorrectly or my needle is off, any know where the rev limiter should be for my car?

You should have a 6500 rpm red line - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N42

I would check the glove box first, then maybe the trunk

It should have a fuel cut off as a back up. Most cars do.

Thanks for the replies guys, I just tried carefully building the revs again and the limiter kicked in at around 6,800. Not flashed or anything, my needle is sitting just above 0 when engine is off so I think it's that. Panic over!
