I would rather have an E38, 2001 model with all appointments and add ons, with a motor swap from an M5 with manual tranny. Or the newer M5 V10.

Ok but why is this one so much worse than the last gen specifically?

I don't see it doing too much worse than an E46 M3 or X3 on the highway.

Why does it always have to be different? It seems that many enthusiasts feel that they have to change something. Oh bro, your ride would look sick if it had a drop. Aww, I'd love to have a swapped E30/E30 M3.

Sometimes the cars are best the way they came.

The E65 looks totally classless. As has been said, it's also extremely unreliable. It has the first generation of newer technology that is very poorly implemented, whereas the E38 has the last generation of older technology which was and is extremely well executed.

They're cheap because they are reliable, great on gas and have zero electrical bugs. People are just selling them on the cheap out of the goodness of their hearts.

Well, that explains the sudden influx of 7-series driven with massively ugly 20+ inch rims in my area.

Average Joe is able to afford them, and he wants to make himself look rich in any way that he can.

The word "there" can appear as a pronoun, as in “over there."

"Their" is a possessive pronoun. In a phrase like “Susan and Bill's car,” it could be used to to make a new phrase: “their car.”

”They're” is a contraction of “they are.” “They are” should always be able to replace “they're.”
-----------
Extra Credit: It's "I'm looking for an M3"
not "I'm looking for a M3".

I'm sure it has something to do with the ugly front and electric everything, but all executive cars like the 7 and S class depreciate like crazy.

Haha I concur my local ghetto has a few of them as well with huge wheels. I always see same guy, huge chrome wheels, chrome handles but somehow can't afford to replace his burnt out right side xenon headlight.

Along with Walmart floor mats...it's sad.
This made me LOL! Do you work for a BMW dealership? Post pictures of that stuff next time, hahaha.

I personally love the E38 with the Highline package.

Individual / Highline Models The E32 Highline model was real head-turner with great expanses of wood trim, picnic tables, rear vanity lights and often a refrigerator in the rear. There was not an E38 Highline model, however the E38 option list included most of the Highline elements including the wooden picnic tables.

I think it also had 2 alternators.

also cars usually depreciate on a percentage basis rather than a fixed rate so the amount depreciated is higher on more expensive cars

All cars depreciate, I only had my m6 for a year and it depreciated 18k+

That's life, I learn that buying cars within the current year is the best thing to do
