My Ride: 2000 323i
There's a kid at my school with a 1988 750iL...it's crazy for any teenager to have a V12 in their first car but when I saw the engine a few weeks back it literally had rust all over it. I'd much rather have my 2000 323i than that old heap.

Why does it always have to be different? It seems that many enthusiasts feel that they have to change something. Oh bro, your ride would look sick if it had a drop. Aww, I'd love to have a swapped E30/E30 M3.
Sometimes the cars are best the way they came.

The E65 looks totally classless. As has been said, it's also extremely unreliable. It has the first generation of newer technology that is very poorly implemented, whereas the E38 has the last generation of older technology which was and is extremely well executed.
Agreed to a point. There are modifications to be made to a vehicle that enchance the vehicle while maintaining the overall character and value of it.

I've considered picking up an E38 as a daily, but it would have to be spotless and ultra low mileage.

those are all e66 from what i can tell.

e65 is the uglier one. they did a good refresh on the e66 though, made that body style at least manageable.

From what I've seen maintenance costs are horrible. Lots of first gen high tech stuff in that car that seems to be breaking. Check out the E65 forum on Bimmerfest for more details on issues - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=126

E66 is the long wheel base.

Whenever people refer to "E##", I have no idea what car they're talking about

Perhaps you should stop responding. It's a no-win for you here. :dunno:

that is sooo wrong dude. those who can afford 7 series don't buy 10 year old ones out of warranty, but CPO bimmers are very popular and an excellent way to save money (something that, gasp, executives are concerned about). How many facelifted 7 series do you see being sold still

Haha, same here. Anything I'm finding is ridiculously priced though. Some kid 30 miles from me wants $12k for a '97 740iL w/70k miles because it has AC Schnitzer wheels on it.

The more expensive the car is at the beginning the more it depreciates. It has always been like that and it always will.
