I have very basic understand of how the clutch works but this is how I understand them (will shortly be corrected I'm sure). One plate is spinning at the engine speed x selected gear ratio and one is connected to the driveshaft which has to be stationary otherwise the wheels would be spinning. When the clutch is disengaged the 2 plates are pushed together. As they are pushed together they either grip or slip and if there isn't too much slip (think corvette fail burnout) the wheels will start spinning..

The wear and or heat is caused when the 2 plates are pushed together which so far as I can tell would occur the same on a dual or single clutch tranny. The only difference I can see is that the DCT might be able to alternate clutches between launches so that the other one can cool down to prevent excessive heat which causes wear?

I've probably got it wrong somewhere along the way!

BTW since you love posting pics, post a pic of your license to show you actually hold a Riders license. It would be such a shame to have a Senna and Duc sitting in the garage when you dont even have a license to ride them
Sigh.. Please quote me confirming my wealth outside this topic, 99% of members would never have known what I do and don't have - I just wanted to put you in your place, which I have.

Here is my license and here is a photo taken of me on the w/e up at flinders - sadly I forgot to bring my post it notes with me

Lets catch up for a ride..?

I could quote the copious amount of topics you have given advice in when purchasing the right car - yet sadly if you had comprehended your own advice your 10 year old car would be on the road and not living at the mechanics.

It's about time for you to surf google for another 458 image I reckon

It's true when your mother told you at a young age (last week) you're (happy Declan?) special, keep eating your greens and you will grow up to be a super dooper boy!

Did you mean 'I have a very basic understanding'

Yes grammar Nazi, you got it wrong in the first sentence.

Just reconfirms my previous point that you don't comprehend what you preach.

Communications? HA! Flog!

That's worse than an Arts degree.

Didn't they give you the car for 24/48 hours..? You need to park the polo around the corner tsk tsk.

Post it note is old news, surely you can come up with something more creative, just like pennies you claim you made to pay for it, Mr Self-worth.

Since you worked out how to use YouTube (obviously covered in your communications degree 1st or 2nd year) you could video the sales contract?
