----> 2013 Formula 1 Season Thread <----
Formula One tyre suppliers Pirelli have unveiled what they describe as a ‘revolutionised’ new range of tyres for the 2013 season, with the aim of producing more pit stops and increasing overtaking. Both the dry and wet-weather tyre ranges have been revised with compounds becoming softer, the structure of the tyres more flexible and the shoulder of the tyres reinforced. The Italian manufacturer has said that the object of these changes was to improve performance and to increase thermal degradation in order to ensure at least two pit stops per car, per race and to open up more strategic options for the teams. Cute colors.
Gonna be less of a tire lottery this year though. Which is fine!

I'm sure Jenson and Perez will be making a few one-stoppers again this year- I think McLaren will do well since they have two drivers that are (arguably) the easiest on tires.

Seriously. Red orange yellow are hard enough to see without spinning at a million miles an hour

I'm happy they're going softer. Watching one stop races can get kind of old. That being said, I think in the '13 season it's going to take some real skill to pull off a one stopper while still making it worthwhile.
EDIT: Also glad they got rid of the silver color for the hard compound. It was too hard to tell them apart from dirty sets of medium compound IMO. I know the yellow and orange might look similar but they'd never be using the soft (yellow) and hard (orange) in the same weekend.

Lotus launches 2013 E21 F1 car
Lotus have become the first team to unveil their 2013 car after the wraps came off the Renault-powered E21 in an online launch ceremony broadcast from the team’s UK factory on Monday evening. With the new machine Lotus aim to build on their successful 2012 campaign, which saw Kimi Raikkonen win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix en route to the team finishing fourth in the constructors’ championship. Raikkonen will again partner Romain Grosjean in 2013. Read more I'm not that excited about the 2013 cars but it should be a good season with the tire changes and tight competition between Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren. Who are you cheering for this season?

I think they're mostly going to look and drive like the 2012 cars.

I think this will lead to quicker times and hopefully, greater competition. Midfield battles will be better, and battles up front as well (but I don't think we will see anyone make the jump from the midfield to the sharp end).

I think this season, like the seasons introducing KERS, will see one or two big names drop to mid pack as they'll be focusing more R&D on the new chassis and engine's for the following year. Which may yet make for some good racing.

I'm excited and watched it yesterday, it was probably the most anticlimatic reveal I've seen. I will be cheering them on though!
