oil light?
hello,
after 10 mins of driving i have the yellow oil light appear? i have a 320ci with 107,000 on the clock and i checked the oil and it seems to be within the tolerances. The guy i bought it from said he put 10 40w in it? surely its a 5 30w oil thoughh? help would be a godsend right now as i dont want to f*ck up another bmw haha cheers, |

if the oil level is good, you might have a faulty oil level sensor. you can swap that out during your next oil change.

The type of oil (brand, weight, BMW-approved, etc) has been discussed in many, many threads .... if your mention of oil weight is a question, rather than a statement, you're in for hours of reading.

I had this happen also. According the the manual it says basically your a little low. Could be a sensor like dude said.

I've got the same problem, it's the level sensor. Not a big deal if you check your oil level on a regular basis (i check it every time i gas up).
It's the sensor mounted on the bottom side of the pan with 3 nuts. Typical diagnostic of it is: if the yellow light stays on for 10 seconds then stops only once per key cycle, then it's the sensor (driving on level terrain of course). |
