Where to buy: fiberglass CSL trunk M3

Where can I buy a fiberglass CSL trunk?? I dont have the cash for an oem csl but i would spend a decent amount to get a good replica.

I've looked all over the Internet and can only find carbon fiber ones... I have to believe somewhere sells a good quality fiberglass CSL trunk?! All I can find is eBay junk.

If someone has a link to a site or has one for sale plz help!

Thank you!

There is a fiberglass option in the pull down menu

I've heard those don't have the same shape as the oem csl trunks? And that fitament isn't the best.. Does anyone have experience with one of these trunks on their m3?

Otherwise I'll probably get the FRP from modbargains.

I have heard the same thing with the CF trunk lids. The obvious differences from a OEM CSL part would be the trunk handle, and lack of a recessed license plate, and possible fitment issues, but that is already a known issue, even with the CF example in question. If these two trunks are made by the same company, I donít see why there would be a difference depending on the material.

Does anyone have experience with this brand fiberglass trunk?

I called and spoke with Frank at modbargains and discussed fitament and he said it depends on who installs it, if you do it yourself and have minimal to no experience it probably wont fit perfect.

I have a body shop in town that has worked on my car before (2 front bumper installs and 2 carbon fiber splitters) and they do good work so I'm going to let them install it.

I looked at all the photos of customer cars on their site and fitament looks good. Frank said they fit really well without modification but if you want it perfect it requires a little work but not much. Obviously with almost anything aftermarket it won't fit as good as oem.

I think I'm gunna bite the bullet and order it. They're $490 shipped so you can't really beat the price. The Status Gruppe ones are $600 I think?

A new trunk handle with everything you need is $81 from ecstuning so it'd be ~$600 for the trunk and handle shipped. Plus whatever the body shop charges which I'm guessing will be around $100 because I'm just going to have them install it, I have my own plans for paint...

pics of the modbargains vs Status Gruppe.

Status Gruppe

ModBargains

Differences Breiwa1 mentioned: modbargains doesnt have a trunk handle, and the Status Gruppe has a indented space for a license plate. I think I like how the modbargains license plate area looks better because I'm putting a US license plate on it. the Status Gruppe space fits a euro plate perfect but IMO would look weird with a US plate on cause of the gaps on the sides.

another comparison pic for curvatures of trunk

ModBargains

Shape doesn't look much different to me but that might be because of the camera angle. Frank said its hardly different though.

I don't think it matters which one you get really, either way it'll add to the overall look of your car nicely

Just in case anyone is confused, Status is a replica of the OEM CSL trunk without the trunk handle. Modbargains/Umnitza/Khoalty/eBay is a replica OEM trunk + CSL hump + trunk handle to mimic the look of the CSL trunk.

The Status FRP trunk is $1000 as per the group buy on m3forum

I'm not one for fiberglass but if you're going this route then I would go with Status Gruppe.

I would go with SGT if this is your route. Mike Migs has solid customer service..... I've been on his SGT SRS coils for a while.

I'm saving $$ for the Status Gruppe FRP trunk myself. To my knowledge, they have the closest replica to OEM, they bought the rights to Scorza's mold last year, which were considered the best replicas at the time, and now Status Gruppe has improved on that mold, made it even closer to OEM.
Their CF trunk is from before the Scorza mold is actually from China, fitment is not as perfect as the FRP trunk, hence the lower cost..

Holy smokes I'm super impressed with how well the lines match up with the Status Gruppe FRP trunk. I was almost certain I would end up going with the CF one, but looking at that side/rear shot of it means I might have to spend the extra cash for FRP!

Actually spoke to you earlier about some coilovers but this trunk gets more and more convincing! Ill inquire about buying one or the other soon enough!
