Get a decent one with a 3-point locking mechanism. Sure, they can break the glass, but they could also break a window.

It does take awhile before you get into the swing of things again. Let your close neighbors know. Some free software like vitamin D camera or free tebocam for emailing yourself movement in the house can make you feel better if you are in shock like I was for a short period of time.

house alarms are cheap @ 200 down 25 bucks a month or something. A dog or two

or all of the above.

Not trying to scare ya but a lot of burglars return.

Time to change al your locks, upgrade perimeter, install an alarm/cameras and always be armed when home.

Honestly, all of the above should already be in place but I know most people don't.

Sorry this happened to you. Glad all are safe

Take this as a cheap lesson to start locking down

Going to lowes tomorrow for locks. I'll have to settle for being armed tonight.

Damn that's terrible, thieves are some of the scummiest of scum.

You should set up some bear traps around the doors.

Artificial traps are illegal to use to protect one's property. Probably just joking but it needs to be said anyways.

OP- are you sure you didn't get wasted the night before? Forgot you had keys so you kicked in the back door and left for work the next morning through the front door?
