Not in todays world. We will get the same lettuce, but grown elsewhere. It will be grown in Mexico, the Philippines, etc. I have tomatoes at home, Canadian. Cucumbers, Mexican. Etc etc. I don't think I have anything at home currently that is grown in the US except some apples. Having said that, you are correct, if you want "premium California lettuce" you will pay more for it....simple as that.
