Scanner reads: Code P0128

Just got my car back from getting:

Spark plugs, oil change, coils, and fuel filter.

Earlier in the week, car CEL'd a couple of times, had the guys read the code before I left and they said it was:

P0128

Any ideas what that is? They did mention,"thermostat"

Thanks all

I am now gonna do some research....

http://engine-codes.com/p0128.html

Found it my self, cool.

Possible causes
- Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor
- Low engine coolant level
- Leaking or stuck open thermostat
- Insufficient warm up time
- Engine coolant temperature sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine coolant temperature sensor circuit poor electrical connection

If cooling system is not leaking and the fluid level is OK, replacing the thermostat usually takes care of the problem.
Help with this
When is the code detected?
The engine coolant temperature does not reach to specified temperature even though the engine has run long enough.
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0128 BMW Description
Indicates that the thermostat monitor has not achieved the required engine operating temperature within a specified amount of time after starting the engine.

Seems you pretty much found all the info you needed. I'm currently throwing the same code and plan on replacing the thermostat soon. I never reach full operating temperature either...the needle stops just short of the middle.

I drove a year with the thermostats me that, not a huge issue but if your going to diy your thermostat do your water pump and check your hoses and expansion tank for leaks

Finally got my Thermostat replaced. Got off work 3 hours early, then straight to the mechanic. Temp is now where it is supposed to be, right in the middle, then 210 and below while in traffic.

My car throws this code, I replaced my thermostat and I still get this code. I think I read somewhere it might have something to do with a EGT sensor which supposedly isn't even used anymore.

That's weird you still get the same code. I changed mine and no code.
