325Ci Rear Bumper Insert

I need to re-color the faded insert in the rear bumper on my 2004 325Ci coupe. It appears to snap out of the bumper cover somehow, but I don't want to break anything by just prying on it. Anyone know how to get it out, then get it back in place after I've painted it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Take a look at this DIY for the rear parking sensors. It shows how to remove the sport bumper bottom trim.

325Ci Rear Bumper Insert

I finally solved the puzzle about how to remove the insert from the rear bumper of my car. I was going to respray mine, but I found out a brand new one from BMW was only $23, so I bought it. Once it came and I looked at it, it simply slides into a slot in the bumper at each end and is held in place with tabs on the top and bottom. To remove the old one, take a small flat blade screwdriver and pry the insert loose from the bumper cover near the reflector on one side so you can slide the end of the insert out of the slot in the cover, then pull it loose from that end to the other. Pop out the reflectors and tow hook cover, install them in the new insert, and reinstall in the bumper cover by first sliding one end into the slot of the cover. Then snap the insert into place, but make sure you insert the other end into the slot before snapping the insert all the way to the end. If you want to just re-dye your existing insert, the procedure is the same.

Great.
If you add some pictures of where exactly these prying points are that would be great. Even on the installed one with markings on where exactly to pry, that will be much easier. I have been thinking to paint mine but thinking of breaking it while removing was holding me back.
