Tiger Woods’ ex-wife bulldozes $12 million home

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-d...232405259.html

There are times when divorce forces people to do strange things. Burn sheets. Throw out clothes. Toss rings into the ocean. But when you get $100 million in your divorce, you can trump just about anything and that's what happened with Tiger Woods' ex-wife when she bought a $12 million home and bulldozed the whole thing.

Yes, according to TMZ, Elin Nordegren bought a $12 million home in North Palm Beach, Fla., but didn't like it, and has plowed the whole thing.

The house, which had six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, is now just rubble, with no word yet on what is going to replace the beautiful building you see above, but I guess when you have nine figures in the bank, it doesn't really matter what you want.

Back where I lived in Virginia a developer bought 60 homes for $500K/each and bulldozed them. Nothing was ever built to replace them - just left an empty lot for years. One $12M house is a drop in the bucket.

Might be a wise move if the land is worth a lot, and the home was either obsolete/ugly/unsale-able, or any other number of things. Remember, the $12M includes the land, and the house might not be the greatest portion of that price... Add the appeal of the property now due to her ownership (some people are attention *****s and like that sort of venue), factor in a newer home built on the location of the razed home, plus increasing real-estate values (they're down so low, they can almost only go up in future transactions), and ten years from now, she may prove to be a shrewd investor.

Besides, for Mrs. Tiger Woods' money, $12M is a rounding error...

I, for one, am shocked. Women never act crazy after such a traumatic event. She's really a minority case.

If the house is in the neighborhood I think it is, youre probably right. $12m is a starter home in that neighborhood.

In all honesty, it'll be interesting to see if she's broke in xx amount of years. If she's going through money this quickly, that could be a bad sign.

Yeah, I looked it up. Built in 1932, surrounded by much newer homes.

It was a tear down.

Look pretty good for something built in 1932.

First of all, it looks fake. Look at the trees behind the house. They torn down the house and removed sidewalks and planted brush?

Second, its not a 12MM home, its a 12MM estate. Thats a 1MM home on an 11MM piece of property.

Third, it happens every day here. No one wants to dump a million dollars to fixing something that cost 2 million to build to your wildest dreams.

Think about it.

No, I think you're wrong. Here's the slide deck while the demo is going on.
