Keep or sell? AR uppers.
I've got two uppers in. Both are factory colts, both has KAC ras rails, and both are in 95%+ condition.
The first is a a2 colt 727 14.5 socom HB upper. it appears to be a factory upper (shows no signs of the pins being removed) It's marked C MB on the upper, L6 I 2 on the FSB, and C MP 5.56 nato 1/7 on the barrel. I have not removed the KAC rails to view the date code. Has a C FA colt BCG. The other is a factory colt 9mm upper, It's a 10.3 or 10.5, not to sure about that. The upper is a A1 style, has C A marked on the upper, c99 (r1) 2 marked on the FSB and C MP CB marked on the barrel on the top with 9mm on the side. The bolt is ramped and comes with 2 off brand mags and a colt drop in mag adaptor. Any clue what these would go for? I'm thinking about pricing the 727 upper for $1500 and the 9mm setup for $1300 |

I did some googling around about the 727 and I saw some old ads for the same upper (I think) for half of that price.

The 727 is like new and has the heavy socom barrel. Socom barrels, IF you can find one is $700+ stripped. Never mind that this is a complete early m4 socom upper with factory colt bolt and a new set of ras rails.
I may be a bit high on the 9mm upper but this is a drop in setup with new RAS rails. When factory 6920 uppers are going near $1000 I feel I can get it. |

You probably know more about it than I do to be honest.
But I couldn't get near that for my complete new 6920 upper. Two months ago I could; I would have been lucky to get 700-800 for it today. I sold the complete rifle yesterday for $1325

13 minutes left. Last complete one I had I got 950 for it about a week ago. I'll list them later, best to start high and come down. If it was a 14.5 flat top I'd keep it in a second. Not to crazy about the heavy barrel or the a2 upper. It'd be great for somebody who wants to build a correct early m4 retro clone. |

I confess myself a bit surprised. Hell, I should hit up every walmart I can to buy another and then sell the upper. I'd get a complete colt lower for like $250

Right now stripping a colt is the way to go. Biddings not over and he's already made about $200 more than you did by just taking the upper off the listing it as 2 auctions.
He could have made more if he would have sold that rogers stock seperatly. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=339375610 Last edited by tailo; 05-05-2013 at 06:44 PM. |

I refuse to do a no-reserve auction starting at $0.01; that carries far too much risk. Probably could have broken it up for more. My priority was to get rid of it before prices dropped to normal.

I think the prices already are at normal levels. I spotted several venders with $850 ar's at the last show and they wern't flyin off the shelf. I'm having no problem finding stuff at a good price.

Yeah, they're definitely coming back down and getting easier to find. But if they were normal, I wouldn't have gotten better than full price for mine. The thing sells for $1099 at Walmart, which is $1175 after tax. Under normal conditions, you wouldn't get that full price for it anyway on any board or on armslist. And I made $150 on more than that on mine.
People will continue to pay a premium on them for a few more weeks I think.
