Take a picture that shows the location, but I do not know of a switch in that area.

The silver one was installed when I had my autostart put in but I have no clue what the black one is for. Does anyone have any ideas and if it's not Manufacture installed?

Look like a home made fuel cut switch to prevent theft.

This. Try turning the car off, flipping the switch, and try to start it.

I was about to post the same...reminds me of a kill switch that a friend had on his car years ago - same idea, make it impossible to start when the switch was flipped. His was a little more hidden than this, but most people w/a stolen key don't think to look for this stuff and give up, or are at least delayed.

I would agree with the kill switch proposition but its dangerously close to the knee wouldn't you say? I wonder what would happen if you flicked it in transit.

Thats a radio shack kind switch.
My guess is; it is for corona rings/angel eyes or some kind of gizmo the previous owner had installed.

It is not standard. Just pull the trim and see where its wired up to.
Also, why would you put any switch next to your knee?

So when he gets pulled over by the police he can flip the switch to release a cloud of chloroform into the trunk to silence the hooker without being obvious.

I was thinking more in terms of rocket launchers, but your speculation makes sense too.

I'm not really sure why either of the switches are where they are... I could think of a lot of different and better places to place them

May be in your best interest to do some wire tracing if they're connected.

It's either for the Flux Capacitor or the Mr Fusion.

This is also an option. See if it cuts all the lights.

That sets off nukes to North Korea. They put it in an older-model BMW because they figured no one would even look there. Hit it and you'll start WWIII.

Obviously a self.destruct button. You hit it and the water pump fails thus blowing up the car.
