NJ Thunderbolt Racetrack clips ! My E46 M3

Sup

On 02/23/13 we had the "Cold Tire Domination" event at Thunderbolt in Jersey.

Here are a few clips of my car and one from a bunch of cars at the long straight way.

Remember it was raining a lot that day and the tarmac was wet as ****. Had lots of cars slipping and sliding all over the place and even had a few crashes. Surprisingly the cars that crashed most heavily were the AWD Subarus and Mitsubishi EVOs.

My cars setup is in the video description, but it's just an El Diablo Muffler, lol.

Enjoy

those conditions are my worst nightmare for a track day. I have heard you learn more in regards to how the car handles, in the wet, but still, I pay for a track day it has to be sunny and dry... or at least dry.

sounds good by the way

oh yea. I couldn't cancel the event because it was past the dead line. I also planned to just not go because its a 3 hour drive from where I live but I am glad I went. Was incredibly fun. I can't imagine how exciting it is to drive in the dry.

Continental DW with 65-70% tread left on them.

Driving in the rain IS and SHOULD be scary but once you have an Instructor with you and you understand the theory behind driving in the rain and how it affects your car, you can drive quickly and safely too. I was at 100mph+ on those straight stretches. Sometimes slower because I had someone infront of me or because I had to let some of the Z06 and Turbo WRXs go by.

In the entire day my Traction Control kicked in only ONCE because I was a little too hectic at acceleration out of a corner. There is an incredibly fine line between traction and no traction in the rain. It's so sudden. In the dry you can feel that you lose traction and you actually have a few split seconds to react.

Nice. I heard those DW's are great in the rain. Seems like they worked well for you.

Ah ok thanks. Just googled it. Looks like its a drag strip and motorcross track. Not really a circuit race track or am I mistaken? It's not so far away which is good.
