FM radio

Hi all,

the FM radio reception in my car has gone to the crapper, whereas the AM radio reception is perfect.

The above rules out the antennae as one band ir working and the other isnt.

Any ideas on what may need replacing. Or where i can start looking.

start by looking behind the unit.

what should i be looking for.. highly doubt a loose wire for the antennae as i would have the same issue for the AM radio reception not just FM. ?

FM uses 7 antennas in the rear glass to pick up the best signal and is constantly jumping. The AM uses on loop antenna. Your back glass may hold the key to this answer. If any of the branches of the antenna loops are broken this can cause poor reception but may not affect AM loop. Small hairline cracks in the antenna will indicate an open circuit on that loop.

PO tint the car? or did you take any off? Same thing happened to me and I found out that taking the tint off messes up that. As well as the rear defroster. My PO had taken the tint off from the original owner. If its not working too it might be that.

mine is the convertible, so it's not the rear glass.
