bmw bbs style 42 wheels (another refinish but... i havent seen anyone doing style42's

so after much thought and tired of lowball offers ($250-$300 with tires fyi)
im just going to keep the wheels =)

THE WHEELS ARE OEM BBS STYLE 42's
CAM OFF A 2002 E39 SPORT
THE TIRES ARE 205/40ZR17 PIRELLI'S

i have taken them apart and stripped the clear coat off

there just like refinishing the style 5 wheels so i wont go into too much detail on the process.

i have no idea on what color to go with. i am trying to keep the mirror finish on the lip and maybe a gunmetal center...

Nice, I would've kept silver personally but depending on the car gunmetal can work.

Great wheels, what are the offsets?

im still thinking of the color combo to go with.i only finished one wheels for now just testing.

please let me know what you guys think as far as color combo. i want to be finished with them by june 14th.
i still have some time left but i cant wait to finish them.... im thinking of getting them
painted by a pro. but if i like how it turns out with rattle can and a few coats of clear than im sticking to that
the paint that i used on the finished wheel is rattle can...

Unfortunately, E39 style 42 are ET20. If these were the Z3 17" 42s, I'd take them. In fact, I may order four front z3 17x7.5 ET46 style 42 wheels from a dealer for my next set of tires.

I think the lowball offers had more to do with the et20 than anything else. You were just selling them on the wrong forum. I Had a set of these that I picked up for $150, and listed them on here and on BimmerForums, under the e39 classifieds. From the reaction I got on this forum, you would have thought I was trying to sell nude photos of Hillary Clinton. But the e39 guys were all over them, and I got $650 for the set.
Anyone who is willing to go with et20 wheels for an e46 is looking for something a lot newer and modern looking. But your "refinish" may have screwed up your chances of getting a good price even with the e39 crowd. They want more traditional stuff.

Your style 42s are awesome. E39 wheels are some of the best I've seen on BMWs...

For some style 95 lovin', have a look here:

I love those wheels. I'd have loved to have them (in silver) for my e46. I think they look best in silver or gold. Silver appeals to more people, but gold can look sweet on certain cars too.
Why don't people want them and (dumb question alert)...what is et20?

I don't have a set yet but am eyeballing a set. I'd just like to see them on a sedan since I searched but didn't find a full pic of it, only partials

Fantastic wheels.

Your DIY was very well executed. Aside from the color. I don't like black on most BMWs.
